Terry Lee Cole, 72, of Kenova passed away Monday, July 6, 2020 at his residence. He was born May 4, 1948 in Kenova, WV. a son of the late Harold and Nettie Elizabeth McGown Cole. Funeral service will be conducted 7:00 P.M. Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Rollins Funeral Home with Mr. Dale Ledbetter officiating. Interment will be private. Terry retired from the Red Cross. Survivors include, his beloved wife Donna Stiltner Cole; two daughters and sons-in-law Christi and Brian Poehlein, Wendy and Nick Adkins; two grandchildren Kaylee Frint (James) and Cole Adkins and step-great grandchildren Alexa and Gracie: one sister Beverly Cole and several nieces and nephews. Gloria Janet Smith Rutherford, 87, of Kenova passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020 at Cabell Health Care. She was born November 27, 1932 in Wayne Co., WV. a daughter of the late Clifford M. and Sadie Hazlett Smith. She was retired from Potpourri in Ceredo. Graveside service will be conducted 2:45 P.M. Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Cyrus Cemetery with Pastor Jim Richards officiating. In addition to her parents she was preceded by her beloved husband Hiram Gordon Rutherford one sister and brother-in-law Lois Gene (Donald) Booth, son-in-law Donald Ray Bailey and brother- in-law Gary Steele. Survivors include, one son and daughter-in-law Phillip Gordon (Jackie) Rutherford; one daughter Vicki Lynn Bailey; two brothers Sherrell (Barbara) Smith, David (Bea) Smith, one sister Loretta Steele. grandchildren Phillip Joshua (Elizabeth) Rutherford, Joseph Michael (Katy) Bailey, Dr. Billy Jack ( Dr. Kelly) Rutherford and Jaima Marie (Billy) Travis. He is also survived by great grandchildren Anna Marie, Liam Jack, Julia Belle and Joshua Lucas Rutherford; Jacob Alec (Jaea), Dylan Joe, Brayley Dawn Travis; Charles Maxwell, Violet Elaine, Marion Leigh, James Theodore Bailey and two great-great grandchildren Hayden and Paisley Travis and a host of other family and friends. Bobby Lee Slone, 55, of Prichard, W.Va. passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020 in King’s Daughters Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Rollins Funeral in Kenova. Interment will follow in Hazlett Cemetery. He was born February 1, 1965 in Huntington, W.Va. a son of Barbara Ann Davis Slone and the late Jackie C. Slone. Bobby was a former employee with Midline Industries and a 1984 graduate of Fort Gay High School. In addition to his mother he is survived by a brother Jackie C. Slone, Jr.; nieces Karri (John) Justice and Lauren Paige (Shane) Case; five great-nephews Abele, Zach, Alex, Mason and Easton; two uncles and two aunts Bill Slone, Ralph (Wanda) Davis and Glenna Sturm and numerous other family and friends. Michael David “Smacky” Banks, went to be with his Heavenly Father, on Tuesday June 16, 2020 leaving behind the love of his life of 29 years, Leaneta “Lee” Pelphrey Banks. He was born October 25, 1948 in Kenova, WVa. a son of the late Emmett and Lorraine Preston Banks. Mike was a US Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post 93 Kenova whose Honor Guard will conduct military rites. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michalyn Leigh Miller. Mike was a master electrician retired from IBEW Local 317. In addition to his wife he is also survived by five children, Chief Petty Officer Michael David (Kristin) Banks II, Lisa Marie (Perry) Morrone, Carmen (Brian) Scott, Candice (Geoffrey) Gettliffe and Bill (Deitra) Miller; ten grandchildren, Kristin (CJ) Snyder, Courtney (JT) Braley, Michael (Ashleigh) Crabtree, Brandon Morrone, Taylor Scott, McKensie Miller, Payton Morrone, Eli Miller, Ethan Banks and Hannah Banks; five great grandchildren, Harleigh, Callie, Evelyn, Cooper and Alyvia; one brother, Bill (Gail) Banks; one sister, Cheryl (Scott) Bowen; several nieces and nephews, other friends and family; special neighbors, Mick and Roxanne Fizer; special friends, Paul Rutherford, Scott McCoy, Ralph McKenzie and Terry Bentley. Clifford David Bassham,72, of Huntington, WV. passed away Saturday, June 6, 2020 at his residence. Military funeral rites will be conducted at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at the Donel C. Kinnard State Veterans Cemetery Dunbar, W.Va. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Vietnam. He is survived by one son and two brothers. PATRICIA ANN TOLER, 68, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away June 9, 2020. She was born February 16, 1952, in Logan, W.Va., to Bernard Toler and Mary Lou Brown Toler Boothe. Patty loved her family and her 13th Street Baptist Church family. She is survived by her best friend, Donnie Caldwell of Huntington, and her sisters, Judi Toler Kozlowski (Jay) of Orlando, Fla., and Carolyn “Kacky” Toler Tornow (Mike) of Chicago, Ill. Surviving are nieces Natalia Parrish, Dana Kubiak, Michelle Alex and Laura Nichols. Surviving nephews are Scott Rabb, Steve Rabb, Lionel Rabb, R. Todd Schroth and John Nichols, and many greatnieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Thomas Lee Toler, her sister Barbara Jane Nichols. A memorial service will be held June 13, 2020, at 13th Street Baptist Church, 1812 13th Street, Ashland, Ky., with visitation at 11 a.m. and services at 12 noon, conducted by Pastor James Byrd. A memorial service will be conducted at Claypool United Methodist Church in Davin, W.Va. at 5 p.m., June 13, 2020, conducted by Pastor Rick Brown and Pastor Ollie Parsons. Both are Patty’s cousins. Maria Gail Bodamer ,70, of South Point, OH. passed away Monday, June 8, 2020 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral service will be conducted 5:15 P.M. Friday, June 12, 2020 at the Ceredo Crescent Hill Cemetery in Ceredo, W.Va. with Pastor Jerry Matt officiating. Maria was born August 24, 1949 in Huntington, WV. a daughter of the late William Franklin “Bill” and Bedelia Idona Brown Leep. She retired from St, Mary’s Medical Center where she was an emergency room nurse. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Maria is survived by her beloved husband Robert Bodamer; one daughter and son-in-law Beverly Gail Thomas (Brian); one son David Alan Staley; six grandchildren and two sisters Carolyn Samples and Linda Pratt. Janet Lou Thompson Abrams, 83, of Elloree passed away on Friday, June 5, 2020.

The daughter of the late Clarence Rosco Thompson and the late Dorothy Kidd Thompson, Janet was born on February 12, 1937 in Fort Gay, West Virginia.  She was the middle child of three daughters.  Her sisters are the late JoAnne Thompson Vest (David) and Delores Jean Thompson Romine Smith (Gene).  She attended public schools in Ceredo, West Virginia, and graduated with honors from Ceredo-Kenova High School.  Janet graduated with a master’s degree in Education from Marshall University in Huntington West Virginia.  Janet’s teaching career spanned 28 years at Ceredo Elementary School and Ceredo Middle School.

Janet is survived by her husband of 62 years Gerald Mason Abrams,  two children Jon Kevin Abrams, and Jody Kay Abrams Sughrue (James), three grandchildren Jordan Lewis Mikalauskas, Heather Abrams and Lauren Abrams, one great grandchild Leonas Mikalauskas, and six nieces and nephews.  Janet was predeceased by her parents, her older sister JoAnne, and her nephew Jeffrey Lee Vest.

Janet was a devout Christian, a loving and generous wife, sister, mother and grandmother.  She was a former member of Locust Grove Baptist Church, Buffalo, West Virginia and a current member of Lake Marion Baptist Church, North Santee, South Carolina.  Janet was actively involved in the church.  She was a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, member of Women on Missions and served on various church committees. 

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Lake Marion Baptist Church, 1182 Scott Lake Rd, Summerton, S.C. and will be officiated by Pastor Larry Kennedy.  A graveside service will be held at Old Docks Creek Cemetery, Docks Creek Road, Kenova, West Virginia on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 4:00 P.M. and will be officiated by Tom Baisden, Pastor of United Methodist Church, Ceredo, West Virginia.

Paul M. Daniels ,81, of Wayne, WV. passed away Sunday, June 7, 2020 at his residence. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at the Centerville Baptist Church, of which he was a member with his son Pastor Paul Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in the Riggs Family Cemetery. He was born September 24, 1938 in Wayne, WV. a son of the late Manford and Mary Lou Damron Daniels. Paul was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Mary Tienken Daniels; one daughter and son-in-law Sharon Seitz (Rocky); one son and daughter-in-law Paul E. Daniels (Bobbi); five grandchildren Derek Saunders, Erin Saunders, Tyler Seitz, Adam Daniels and Hannah Daniels and five great-grandchildren Hailey, Dakota, Lindsey, Autumn and Logan. William Raymond Turner, 89, of Kenova, W.Va. passed away peacefully on June 1, 2020. He was born November 9, 1930 in Kenova to W.R. and Mary Ada Hundley Turner. He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 55 years, Wanda Ann Smith Turner. He is survived by his two loving daughters, Brenda Turner-Adkins and Angela Turner-Frazier; a special son-in-law Timothy Frazier; two grandsons, Justin Blair and Hayden Frazier; a granddaughter, Kaitlin Adkins and a great granddaughter, Sophie Robertson. He was a 1948 graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School and attended Marshall University. He served in the US Air Force from 1951-1955 where he spent 32 months in Germany and France. He was awarded the National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Occupation of Germany Medal. Raymond was employed by The First National Bank of Kenova from 1956-1989 where he served as president from 1970 until his retirement in 1989. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 93 Kenova, whose Honor Guard will conduct military rites. Visitation will be held from 200 to 4:00 p.m. Friday June 5, 2020 with funeral services beginning at 4:00 with Rev. Larry Mullins officiating all at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova.
