GLORIA ANN CHARLOTTE McQUINN FISHER LOONEY, 92, of Ceredo, WV., passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Graveside service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Dock’s Creek Cemetery with Pastor Scott Byard officiating. Gloria was born September 5, 1930 in Kenova, WV. a daughter of the late Bernard Downing and Carrie Pearl Chadwick McQuinn. She was a proud member of the C-K Alumni Band, graduate of Vinson High School Class of 48 where her father was her principal and band director. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons Kenneth Howard Fisher, III, Kevin Howard Fisher and two sisters Jill Dolin and Hazel Billups. She is survived by two sons Kirk Fisher and Kent Fisher; two daughters Karen Webb (Greg) and Kim Fisher (Geno); step-son Skip Looney (Jonnean); 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Mary Sue Babcock

Mary Sue Babcock of Kenova, West Virginia passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on March 26, 2023. Visitation will be at the First Baptist Church of Ceredo on Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 11:00 to 1:00. Her Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:00, with interment at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. “Those who bring sunshine to others cannot keep it from themselves.” (James M. Barre) Mary Sue, known affectionately as “Nana”, was born on November 20th, 1934, in Rush, KY. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Babcock; mother, Ethel Smith; her stepson, “Chip”; grandchildren Jenna, and Brian; and siblings, Gaynelle, Kathryn, and David. She was a devoted Christian, a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Ceredo. She was also a loyal fan of Marshall football and enjoyed watching both golf and UK basketball with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Steve) Spence and son, Greg (Joy) Jarrell; grandchildren Cara (Kevin) Dials and Anna Jarrell (Nicholas Hayton); and her great-grandchildren, Connor and Keegan Dials. Mary Sue is also survived by her special friend and companion, Russell “Hutch” Hutchinson. In addition to her local family, she leaves behind stepdaughter, Jan (Steve) Richards of Spring, Texas; stepgrandchildren Kelly, Kim, and Kathryn; and step great-grandchildren, Kevin Jr., Leila, Olivia, Kate, Jessica, Caleb, and Claire. Mary Sue also had several nieces and nephews, including Janet, Sandy, David Ray, John, Michael, David, Tom, and Sarah. Her many great-nieces and nephews loved her from afar, as they can be found from Maine to Florida and California to Mexico. Mary Sue collected everything “ladybug” and enjoyed watching her family participate in all things from sports to music. She was a joy to all, a beam of light to many, and always sought to bring sunshine to those in darkness. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Johnny Lee Workman and three brothers Boyd, Paul B. and John H. Caldwell. Pearl I (Staley) Kohlhepp

Pearl I (Staley) Kohlhepp, 92, passed away early Monday morning, March 6, 2023 at the Geneva Living Center, North.

Friends and family are invited to her celebration of life Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 P.M. at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. Memorial service to follow at 1:00 P.M.

Pearl was born on September 22, 1930 in Prichard W. Virginia, the daughter of the late Archie and Hester A. (Mullins) Staley. She and her husband moved to upstate New York in 1950. She worked in many area restaurants as a cook and waitress retiring from the Holiday Inn, Huntington, WVA as housekeeping supervisor, she also worked at Woolworth, Fulton, NY, Sessler Truck Stop, Phelps, NY, where her husband, John “Jack”, also worked with her as the front desk clerk. Pearl enjoyed quilting and feeding the birds.

Pearl is survived by her daughters Joyce Heitmann and Barbara Kohlhepp; her sons John (Judy) and David (Cori) Kohlhepp; her grandchildren Gregg, Aaron (Michelle), and Kevin Heitmann, Nicole (Pat) Bowers and Sarah (Ted) Kraus; great grandchildren Sophie and Elsie Heitmann and Charlotte Kraus; her sister Peggy (Neil) Daley; brothers Carl, Raymond (Barb) and William (Bonnie) Staley; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents Pearl is preceded in death by her husband Jack, son-in-law Ron Heitmann; sisters Kathy Brennan and Elsie Perry; a brother Glenn, George and James Staley.

Phyllis Jean Dillon Robertson

PHYLLIS JEAN DILLON ROBERTSON, 74, of Huntington, WV., passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Larry Morgan Ferguson

LARRY MORGAN FERGUSON, 87, of Ceredo, West Virginia, passed peacefully at his home on March 16, 2023. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2023, from 12:30-2:00 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at Crescent Hill Cemetery in Ceredo with Pastor Rodney Dishman officiating. Larry was born in Kenova to John S. and Nora Langley Ferguson on March 12, 1936. He was a graduate of Buffalo High School Class of 1954. He was married to his wife, Virginia Louise Carver Ferguson for nearly 60 years. Larry was a retired welder from AK Steel. He was an avid Marshall Thundering Herd sports fan, hunter, and fisherman. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and a nephew Greg Ferguson. Larry is survived by his devoted daughter and son-in-law, Sonja and Don Money; a brother, John M. Ferguson (Joyce), three granddaughters: Taylor Dean (Dustin), Allison Davis (Zach), and Karlee Fischer (Kyle); six great grandchildren: Maddox, Aiden, Tate, Kenleigh, Zander, and Beckett; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to his devoted caregiver Linda Dillon, Hospice of Huntington nurses Sharon and Angie, and special friends who have taken time to visit on the back porch with Larry. Opal Lorraine Newman Michael

Opal Lorraine Newman Michael, 88, of Hilliard, OH., formerly of Prichard, WV., passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at her son’s residence in Hilliard. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Jeffrey “Jeff” Howard Hatten, 53, of Huntington, WV., passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted 12:00 P.M. Hazel Marie Elam

Hazel Marie Elam, 83, of Huntington, WV., passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the Sunshine Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor and long-time family friend Kim Stone. Hazel was born July 13, 1939 in Wayne County a daughter of the late Frank and Fay Bean Wellman. She loved singing and being a part of anything that her grandchildren and great grandchildren were participating in. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Bill Elam and her second husband Eugene Napier and five brothers Herman, Lace, Homer, Elzie and Glen Wellman. She is survived by one son Jimmy (Kim) Hensley; daughter Diana (Chet) Cole; four granddaughters Tara (Carlos) Barron, Stefani (Clayton) Lovejoy; Kayla (Korey) Mitchell; Kara Cole (Fiance’ Alex Thomson); nine great-grandchildren Maddox and Carli Barron, Caiden, Cashton, Case and Sadie Lovejoy, Blake, Cole and Quincy Mitchell; one brother Charles (Glenna) Wellman; four sisters Thelma (Les) Murray, Sherlene (Gene) Hiroskey, Evelyn (Butch) Butcher and Kathy (Mickey) Plymale and sister-in-law Martha Wellman; three step-children Teresa (John) Sipple, Melvin (Carolyn) Napier, Eddie (Laura) Napier; and a life-long special friend Viola Bentley and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Margaret “Margie” Leidecker

Mary Margaret “Margie” Leidecker, 82, of Ashland, died peacefully at Hospice of Ashland on February 27, 2023 after a long illness. Margie was born November 20, 1940 in Kermit, WV. She was the daughter of the late Nathan and Myrtle Johnson.

She was a retired school teacher from the Boyd County School System. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed working with children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Leidecker and son, William “BT” Scott. She is survived by her two children, Stephen “Pup” (Christine) Scott and Dr. Mark Kevin “MK” (Michelle) Scott, both of Ashland, KY. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren: Hunter, Austin, Kennedy, Payton, and Landon.
