Alice M. (Mayo) Sperry, 85, passed from this world to eternal life on July 27, 2019, in Anderson, S.C. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Alva (Fairchild) Mayo and a resident of Wayne County for 82 years. During her life, Alice was a cosmetologist, owning and operating beauty salons in the Kenova area for 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Richard Sperry, and grandson, Jeremy Shoemaker, as well as three brothers and two sisters. She was a member of Buffalo Valley Missionary Baptist Church for more than 55 years. Debra June Lyons Kinser, 60, of Ceredo, WV, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV. She was born April 29, 1959 in Huntington, a daughter of the late Charles and Jewel Adkins Lyons. Debbie attended Ceredo-Kenova High School. She was an account associate with Roche Biomedical Laboratories. Debbie was a lifetime member of AmVets Post 14 and the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ceredo. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Lyons, Jr.  She is survived by her husband, Jonathan Kinser; two daughters, Kimberly White (Jeremy) Ferguson and Kaylee Ann; one son, Jeffery White; three granddaughters, her very special granddaughter, Maisen Grace Ferguson and Bailey and Claire Ferguson; one special niece, Serenity Rose Kinser; three brothers, Randy (Debbie) Lyons, Roger Lyons and David Lyons; one aunt; two uncles; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. The family would like to thank the Surgical Intensive Care Unit Nurses at Cabell Huntington Hospital for their care of Debbie. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, WV. The family will greet friends one hour before the service on Sunday. Burial will follow in Ceredo Crescent Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made, in Debbie’s memory, to a kidney or cancer foundation of your choice. Stephen “Steve” Joseph Alley, 63, of Kenova, WV passed away on Sunday July 21, 2019 at his home. Steve was born August 3, 1955 in Huntington, WV a son of the late Frances Holland Alley and his father, Joe (Helen) Alley of Ceredo, WV. He was a graduate of Buffalo High School and Marshall University. Steve was an assistant manager for Save A Lot Grocery. He was a member of the Kenova Church of Christ. In addition to his mother he was also preceded in death by one brother, John “Greg” Alley. Additional survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Mike (Sharon) Alley; one sister and brother-in-law, Lisa (Chris) Hedrick; one niece, Mollie Shuman; three nephews, Eric Alley, Nathan and Samuel Hedrick; one step daughter, Rhonda Parker; one step granddaughter, Leona Parker and his faithful companion, Nadine Bowen along with a host of other family members and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday July 23, 2019 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, WV. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Alley Family Cemetery. Alice Phyllis Nethercutt, 80, of Kenova, W.Va. formerly of McDowell Co. passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019 at her residence. Alice was born November 2, 1938 in War, W.Va. daughter of the late Ruben and Lillian Hicks. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers Bill and Joe Hicks and a sister Dorothy Cortellesi.  She is survived by two daughters Cathy Jones (Chris) and LaDonna Olanyk; three grandchildren Evan, Chris and Andrea; two great-grandchildren Jackxon and Dean and two sisters Carol Stough (Fred) and Mildred Todd (Raymond). Iona “Frances” Michael Dale, 92, of Kenova, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, July 7, 2019.  She was born June 27, 1927, in Wayne County, WV, a daughter of the late Denver and Ethel Thompson Michael.  Frances was a graduate of Buffalo High School and Marshall University.  She was a school teacher in Wayne County, WV for thirty years.  Frances was an avid sports fan, enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, and making stained glass.  She was a member of Kenova United Methodist Church. Paula Sue Gilkerson, 53, of Huntington, W.Va. passed away Thursday, June 27, 2019 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova with Pastor Roy Akers officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Cemetery in Wayne W.Va. Paula was born December 1, 1965 in Huntington, W.Va. daughter of Freda Brooks Gilkerson and Edward R. Gilkerson (Nellie). In addition to her mother and father she is survived by one brother James Edward Gilkerson; one sister Pamela Jewel Gilkerson and a special cousin Elizabeth Ann Marcum. Dale Marcum Ellis (Uncle Dale), 62, of Kenova, W.Va. passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019. Dale was born October 8, 1956 in Huntington, W.Va. son of the late John Ellis and late Barbara Ellen Perdue Fick. Dale enjoyed fishing with his Milwaukee Best at his side, and Monday night wrestling. He rooted for his favorite teams, the Alabama Roll-Tide, and the Marshall Thundering Herd. He also enjoyed spending time at the lake house tubing with friends and family. He was known as “Uncle Dale” to everyone, related or not, everyone loved his free spirited outlook on life, and he had a story for almost everything. He will be missed by everyone. He is survived by daughter Barbara Adel Bledsoe (Jason); two grandchildren Kyley and Eathan Bledsoe; two sisters Dixie Lilly (Russell) and Kathy Enterkin (Jay); nephews Floyd Lilly, Brady Gilkerson, Shawn Gilkerson, nieces Deserey Taylor and Ashley Lilly. And a host of friends and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by grandparents John and Goldie Ellis, one brother Ronald Ellis and the three wise women (Granny Dixie Perdue, Aunt Ellen Ray and Aunt Erma Gillespie). Reva Caudill, 95, of Kenova, WV. passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019 at her home. Funeral service will be conducted 1:30 P.M. Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Rollins Funeral Home with Rev. Ernest Pennington officiating. Interment will follow in Dock’s Creek Cemetery. Reva was born March 16, 1924 in Wolfe County, Ky. a daughter of the late James and Nannie Spencer Reynolds. She was a former orthopedic aide at St. Mary’s Hospital. Reva was a member of the Maple Street Church of God. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ernest W. Caudill; son Bill Caudill and seven siblings. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Janice Milam (John); three grandchildren Chris Milam (Benita), Kim Cameron and Kellie Nunley (Ben); seven great-grandchildren Mason, Seth, Alex, Mary, Kasey, Amanda and Cody; four great-great-grandchildren Jaize, Kaiden, Jack and Harper and a host of other family members. Donald “Don” Virgil Newman, 83, of Prichard, WV. passed away Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Paige officiating. Interment will follow in Cyrus Cemetery with the American Legion Post 93 Honor Guard rendering military rites. Don was born December 16, 1935 in Wayne County son of the late Willie Bill and Pauline Damron Newman. He was the owner and operator of Newman’s Automatic Transmission Clinic. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army and 9 years in the Army WV National Guard. Don was a 1955 graduate of Buffalo High School and a member of the Cyrus Baptist Church. He volunteered as videographer at Buffalo High School Wayne County for all sports. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister Doris McSorley; two brothers-in-law Bernard McSorley and Fred Michaels; one nephew Danny McSorley and mother and father-in-law Ben and Laura Drown. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years Betty Ann Drown Newman; two sons and daughters-in-law Don Alan Newman (Rose) and Don Mark Newman (Cindy); three granddaughters Jennifer, Madeline and Allison Newman; one sister Opal Michaels; four nephews Rick and Mike Adkins, Stevie and Gary Michaels; one special niece Vickie Clark and a host of other family and friends.
