Carol Ann Rose

Carol Ann Rose passed away at her home on June 28th, 2025, with daughters Jessica and Sheena by her side. Services will be at Rollins Funeral Home on July 13th from 5-7pm, with beloved friend Chuck Williams speaking on the family’s behalf and music played by family friend, Mike Collins. A private ceremony for her children will be held at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast on July 14th.

Carol was born in Kenova, WV on December 29th, 1953, to parents Gladys Rakes and Benjamin Craig. She is preceded in death by her parents as well as brothers Robert Craig, David Craig, Mark Craig, Matthew Sullivan, her cherished granddaughter Schuylar Barnes, the love of her life, husbandTex Rose and her sweet sidekick, Izzy.

She is survived by her children Jessica Basham (Josh), Joshua Hanson (Claudia), Ceizun Schwartz and Sheena Perry (David). Also, grandchildren Allison Williams-Sumpter, Joshua Hanson Jr, Jakob Hanson, Shaye Basham, Zayne Basham, Jaxson Schwartz, Jarrett Schwartz, Regen Perry and Declan Perry. Great grandkids are Vander Barnes (father, Joe Barnes), Abrielle Williams, Julian Hanson and Ryker Sumpter. Also, her siblings, Kay Curry, Patty Piccuito (Dino), Timothy Craig (Brenda), Larry Craig and Melissa Ahmed and several nieces and nephews. Special family members sister-in-law Linda Kay and her husband Billy.

Carol was a former Kenova Volunteer firefighter and EMT, earning EMT of the year in 1993. She was formerly employed asa Wayne County 911 dispatcher and EMT and dispatcher with MTS.  She was proud to serve her community and enjoyed helping others. The best years of her life were spent fighting fires and assisting those needing help. She was an avid gardener, with a love for swimming, sewing, music and home improvements. She loved baking her delicious chocolate chip cookies for her children and grandchildren, always making sure no one took anyone else’s share. Carol will be missed dearly by her family and friends as words cannot express the feeling of loss that lingers with her passing. She was very proud of her son and daughters as well as her grandchildren. We are all thankful for the strength and determination she instilled in us that we can carry in her memory.

We would like to thank her sister-in-law Brenda and brother Timmy for being her caretakers alongside her children. A specialthank you to her friends and neighbors Shawn and Andra Battle, Mark and Sandy Keaton and Gerald Kouns. Thank you to Dr. Salem and staff. Thank you to the staff and nurses of Hospice in Ashland for helping with the care of our mother. We could not have asked for more kind and encouraging people in this difficult time.

    I hope you are flying high with Tex, Granny, Uncle Bobby, Uncle David and Uncle Marky.
    You will forever be missed.

  2. You were such an inspiration to everyone who ever knew you! I remember times we played pranks at MTS !! We shared in lots of stories and laughed at our passed life. But now may you be in the arms of Jesus Christ ! May God help your family through this very hard time !!
