George Edward Cooper,53, of Kenova, WV. passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023 at the Imogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. George was born October 3, 1969 in Huntington, WV a son of Thelma Cooper and the late Andrew Cooper. Besides his father he was also preceded in death by two sisters Linda Cooper and Kathy Cooper. In addition to his mother, he is survived by three sisters Rebecca Frye, Dianne Justice and Jamie Hartley; five brothers Sam Cooper, James Cooper, Andrew Cooper, Jr., Ronald Hartley and Raymond Adkins and several nieces and nephews. Raynelle Woods Williams

Raynelle Woods Williams, of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Kenova, W.Va. passed away and was received into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, June 9, 2023 at Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio after residing in a nursing home for 12 years. Visitation will be Friday, June 16th from Noon to 2:00 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, W.Va. The funeral service will begin immediately following visitation with Pastor Zach Johnson officiating. She was born May 10, 1936 in Jean, KY, a daughter of the late Roy and Elizabeth Wellman Woods. In addition to her parents, Raynelle was preceded in death by her siblings, Ernestine Haszard, Hope Blake, and Eugene Woods; brothers-in-law, Arthur (Hap) Haszard, Junior Blake, and nephew, Arthur Alexander Haszard, II. She is survived by her children, Larry Dale (Jill) Williams, of Kenova, W.Va., Linda Williams (Bruce) Hanson of Milford, OH, and Mark (Patti) Williams of Fishers, IN. In addition she is survived by grandchildren, Dustin Williams, Aireal Ferguson, Erich Williams, Mia Williams, Josh Hanson, Corey Hanson, Mallory Hanson, Halee Rae Williams and Bennett Williams; great grandchildren, Shannon, Angelina, Delaney, Elaina, Aizen, and Vivian; and nephews, Bob Blake, John Haszard, Tim Haszard, Allen Haszard and several great nieces and nephews. Warren G. “Bossy” Spry

Warren G. “Bossy” Spry, 67, of Kenova, WV., gained his heavenly crown, Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral service will be conducted 3:00 PM Sunday, June 11, 2023 at England Hill Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Willie May officiating.  Interment will follow in Dock’s Creek Cemetery. He was born April 23, 1956 in Huntington a son of the late Warnie G. Spry and the late Donna Jean Staley Spry May. Bossy was a retired electrician from the IBEW 317 and was the former president of the IBEW 317 Credit Union and a member of the England Hill Freewill Baptist Church. He was a member of the Buena Vista Masonic Lodge whose members will conduct graveside rites. Bossy was a Wayne County Democrat Executive Committeeman for District 2 and a member of the River Cities Hog Chapter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Terry Ray “Topper” Spry and baby Ryan G. Spry an step-grandchild Cambrie Walls. He leaves behind his wife, Barbie Turner Spry; children Amber Walker (Danny) and Bryan Spry (Katy); step-children Brittney Sims (Tommy), Brandi Adkins (Mark) and Brianna Walls (Alex); two sisters Herma Lynn Davis (Bill) and Jean Robertson (Bill); sister-in-law Ellen Spry; 16 grandchildren Sheyenne, Cole, Faith, Rylee, Kate, Macy, Landon, Lane, Corey, Presleigh, Bryce, Addison, Barrett, Kenadie, Teagen and Raelynn; great grandchild Knox and a special family member Stacey Sammons. Darrell Wayne Dixon

Darrell Wayne Dixon, 75, of Kenova, WV., passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023 in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted 3:00 PM Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Rollins Funeral Home with Minister Luke Goulds officiating. He was born June 14, 1947 in Springfield, Ohio a son of the late Orville Dixon, Jr. and Phyllis Dewitt. Darrell was a proud veteran having served in the U.S. Army for 22 years. He was employed with Big Bear for 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 93 whose Honor Guard will administer military rites. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Larry Orhead, Terry Dixon and Linda Powell. He leaves behind his beloved wife Doshia Jane Dixon; daughter Angie Wilson; son Darrell Dixon; siblings Rhonda Travis and Pam Nesslerotte; 3 step-children Kara Christian, Amanda Carter and Lachrisia Stevens and 7 grandchildren Shayden, Isabella, Colton, Ava, Liam, Cece and Nickie. Julia Ann Christain

Julia Ann Christain, 93, of Kenova, WV., widow of the late James H. Christain, peacefully passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023 in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted 12:00 PM Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Pastor James Asbury officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. She was born July 16, 1929 in Kenova a daughter of the late Fred Marcum and Bessie Elkins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters, she is the last family member of America’s Greatest Generation. Julia was the mother of two and the “mom” of many. She leaves behind a daughter, Betty Lynn Murray (Richard) and a son, James H. Christain, Jr. (Barbara). In addition, she is survived by four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. A true and deeply devoted child of God, she was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church of Kenova. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Glendall Lee Dean, 61, of Prichard, WV. passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Glendall was born February 9, 1962 in Louisa, Ky. a son of the late Glen and Nellie Hatten Dean. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-dad Edward Gilkerson; daughter Amanda Fannin; brother Gary Dean; sister Susan Charles; nephew Glen Charles and son-in-law Herbert Hooser. He is survived by two daughters Samantha Hooser and Kristen Dean; two sons Ricky Dean and Devon Deering; son-in-law James Fannin; grandchildren Brooklyn Fannin, Maddax Fannin, Lynnox Fannin, Samuel Hooser, Glendon Hooser and Axton Henderson; brother Kevin Dean; uncle and aunt Cullie and Jonnie Dee Hatten and several nieces and nephews. Michael Shane Workman, 59, of Kenova, WV. passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023 at his home. Shane was born November 9, 1963 in Huntington, WV. a son of Frank and Glenna Workman. Shane loved to fish, hunt and anything involving the outdoors. He loved playing guitar with his boys and spending time with his family and being the family clown. Shane also loved spending time with two special friends Roger Bowen and Steve Fedczach. Shawn Henderson Wahl, 61, of Kenova, WV. passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at his home. Graveside service will be conducted 11:00 AM. Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Hillcrest Cemetery with Pastor Greg Page officiating. He was born May 13, 1962 in East Lansing Michigan a son of the late Austin and Dixie Weaver Sloan. Shawn received his Bachelor’s Degree at Marshall University in Criminal Justice and was a Juvenile Supervisor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Shane Austin Wahl. Survivors include his wife Robin Plymale Wahl; daughter Ryleigh Wahl; son Trey Wahl; mother-in-law Lana Plymale and three sisters. Katie Bryan Baldwin, 65, of Kenova, WV., passed away Friday, May 19, 2023 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. Katie was born October 8, 1957 in Huntington, WV. daughter of the late Charles and Doris McCloud Bryan. She was a retired CNA. Ella Mae Adkins

Ella Mae Adkins, 95, of Kenova, W.Va. passed away peacefully on Thursday May 18, 2023 at Legacy Riverview Nursing Home. She was born April 19, 1928, in Kenova, the daughter of the late Dock and Birdie Smith Shannon. Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil G. Adkins; her son, Rev. G. Randall Adkins; brothers, Harold and Jack Shannon; and grandson-in-law, Joshua Collins. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Rhonda; grandchildren, Matt (Jessica), Erin, and Sean (Leslie); and great granddaughter, Amelia Pearl. Special thanks to her long time best friend and devoted caregiver, Peggy Sturgill. Ella was a faithful member of Kenova United Methodist Church for 64 years. She was also the receptionist/insurance clerk for Dr. W. W. Mills for many years. Visitation will be Monday, May 22, 2023 from 12 Noon to 1:00 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p. m. following the visitation, at Spring Valley Memory Gardens.
