Patricia “Patty” Ann Staten, 84, of Kenova, W.Va. passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Ceredo Christian Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Day officiating. Interment will follow in Ceredo Crescent Hill Cemetery. Patty was born December 20, 1937 in Ceredo, W.Va. a daughter of the late Charles and Mabel Thompson Staten. She was a faithful member of the Ceredo Christian Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters Bertha Duff and Eloise Staten; two brothers and a sister-in-law Charles Staten and Melvin Clifford Staten and Nancy Staten. She is survived by sister-in-law Juanita Staten; cousin Phyllis Wilcox; dear friend Cora Dixon and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff at Heritage Center and the staff of Cabell Huntington Hospital for their love and care of Patty. Susan “Susie” Stiltner,65, of Huntington, W.Va. passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital. Funeral service will be conducted 12:30 P.M. Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Elder JD Crockerel officiating. Interment will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Susan was born January 20, 1957 in Oak Hill, W.Va. a daughter of the late Luther and Dorothy Peters Sizemore. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a niece Lora Brooks. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years Michael Stiltner; four brothers and sisters-in-law Michael Sizemore (Bernadine), Ronnie Sizemore (Nancy), Gary Sizemore (Debbie) and Bill Sizemore (Freda); one sister and brother-in-law Etta Brooks (Charles); nephews David Lewis (Sally) and Ben Sizemore (Tara); nieces Rhonda Thrasher (Fred) and Emily Hankins (Joel) and a host of other nieces, nephews and family members. Charles C. “Pat” Wells, Jr., 82, passed away February 8, 2022. He was born March 15, 1939, a son of the late Charles and Juanita Peyton Wells. Pat was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Wells, a son Joseph Wells, a brother Jack Wells and a sister Bonnie Riddle. He is survived by a son, Stephen A. (Leslie) Wells, a daughter, Patty (Gary) Friley; grandchildren Mallory (Jeremy) Watts, Anthony (Nicole) Wells, Maria (Caleb) Heck, Steven Friley, Zachary Wells, Chris Wells, Kerri (Cory) Castle, Courtney Spaulding, Clayton (Jessie) Crabtree; great grandchildren, Fiona, Emmy and Rhett Watts, Claire Heck, Josiah Castle, and Chloe Crabtree; a sister-in-law, Sally Wells and nieces Jennifer Browning, Sherry Boling, Wendy Griffith and Tonya Zimmerman. Pat graduated from Ceredo Kenova High School. His claim was, “The Class of 1957 was the best group to ever graduate from C-K.” He loved his classmates. He retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad with over 30 years of service. He was a US Army veteran and volunteered for many years as a driver at the VA Hospital. He was a member of American Legion Post 93 Kenova whose military honor guard will perform graveside rites. Pat was a simple good-hearted man. He enjoyed driving his red truck around town. Pat loved being a resident of Ceredo and proudly wore his Ceredo ball cap. He spent his days tending to his garden, feeding his squirrels from his hand, and watching Marshall football. The family would like to thank the staff at Grayson Assisted Living for their care and compassion over the last several months. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova with Rev. Scott Byard officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Theresa M. “Granny” Stanley, 81, of Huntington, W.Va. passed away February 1, 2022 at her home. She was the only child of the late John C. and Mary V. Reilly Scheibelhood. She was born December 2, 1940 in Huntington. Theresa was employed by the Wayne County Board of Education as a clerk and retired after forty years of service from Buffalo Middle School. She was a proud Buffalo Bison and could be found working the gate at sporting events, filling in for a parent on 8th Grade football night or supporting all of the school children and the activities of the school. She was an avid Buffalo Bison sports fan, she enjoyed Spring Valley football, Marshall football and UK basketball. Her hobbies included crocheting and sewing, shopping at Girlfriends and Sister Chicks and stopping for hot dogs at the Triple H Drive Inn. Granny loved spending time with her beloved children and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she cherished. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Stanley; a daughter-in-law, Tammie Stanley and a son-in-law, Max Amis. She is survived by her three daughters, Cathy (Greg) Seagraves, Sheila Gilbert and Kay Amis; one son, John (Sherrie) Stanley; grandchildren, Beth (Jeff) Hazelett, Jennifer (Eric) Hatfield, Nichole (Jeremy) Zamarron, David Gilbert, Casey (Rachel) Amis, Jacob (Meagan) Seagraves, Chelsie (Trevor) Rogers, and Morgan Stanley; great grandchildren, Elijah, Noah, Juliet, Emoni, Emri, Harper, Austin, Addison, Gage, Easton, Maverick, Kylee and Kailen; special friends, Scott Wood, Tony Ritter, Liz Ryder and the late Jay Brown; a host of other friends and former Buffalo students. The family would like to thank the Good Samaritan who stopped by that day to help. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022 at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Jayne officiating. Visitation will be before the service from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday. There will be a private family only burial at Spring Valley Memory Gardens. Muriel Brown Maynard Salyers,99, of Ceredo, W.Va. passed away Friday, February 4, 2022 at her residence. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Rollins Funeral Home with Elders A.J. Williamson, Clarence Thompson, Jr. and Gary Murray officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Muriel was born September 17, 1922 in Crum, W.Va. a daughter of the late John and Sarah Varney Brown. She was a member of the Westwood United Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands Willis Maynard, Jr. and William Franklin Salyers; one son Jerry Lee Maynard; three step-daughters, Phyllis Lauderback, Joyce Smith and Janet Lavender and nine brothers Alvis, Alfred, Clarence, Clyde, Claude, Clinton, Clifford, Elmer and Lawrence Brown. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Tom Maynard (Joyce); three stepsons and daughter-in-law William Franklin Salyers, Jr. (Etta), Larry Salyers (Wanda) and Ronnie Salyers and two sisters-in-law Gladys Brown and Hatsue Brown. She also leaves three grandsons Bryan Maynard, Jeremy Maynard (Regina) and Tyler Maynard; two great-grandchildren Gavin Maynard, Reece Stevenson and many other step-grand and great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other family members. Jeffery Blankenship, 47, of Olanta, SC, formerly of Huntington, W.Va. Passed away February 1, 2022. He was born March 11, 1974 a son of the late, Georgia Workman Blankenship and Ed Blankenship of Prichard. He graduated from Barboursville High School and the Horry-Georgetown Technical College. Jeff was a member of the Life Center Pentecostal Holliness Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Jeff is survived by his wife, Rachel Blankenship; his son, Steven Jones; his two daughters, Jewell and Lana Jones; his father, Ed Blankenship and his brother, Travis Blankenship. Patricia Ann (“Pat”) Carlson, 77, passed peacefully from this life into the arms of her Lord and Savior on February 1, 2022 in the comforting care of her family and the Doctors Hospital staff in Columbus, Ohio. A resident of Jackson, Ohio in recent years, she was born June 1, 1944 in Huntington, West Virginia to Everett and Frances Dean. After attending Huntington High School she later worked to earn her G.E.D. and completed a medical assistance program in Michigan.

On July 23, 1991 she was united in marriage with Frederick Carlson in Roseville, Michigan, and she was doted on and cared for by Fred every day of the next thirty years. They spent memorable years together there, especially enjoying times in Manistee, before relocating to West Virginia and then to southeast Ohio.

Pat was a hard worker from a young age, whether in the home or in her jobs. She dearly loved her family, her dogs, the great outdoors and wildlife, her games, her church families at World Outreach in Jackson and Jefferson Avenue in Huntington, and her roommate, friends and bingo buddies at Four Winds.

Preceding her in death besides her parents were her brother, James (“Jimmy”) Dean; her brother-in-law, Richard Napier; and her sister-in-law Marilyn Wright. In addition to her loving husband Fred, she is survived by her children, Teresa (William) Hay of Prichard, WV, Shirley Diann (Dale) Johnson of Kenova, WV, Michael (Beverly) Perry of Jackson, OH, Steve Perry of Lavalette, WV, and Sunday (Paul) Largent of Sterling Heights, MI; grandchildren Aaron, Paige, Dakota, Dale, Kristen, Brittany, Kasey, Brooke, Alexia, Ashley and Hayli; great-grandchildren Alyson, Brantley, Memphis, Jazzmyne, Quinn, Vivienne, Katelyn, Keegan, Colton, Caleb, Annabelle, Gidian, Conner, Claire, Seth, Thomas, Owen, Kaiya and Thiago; her sister Helen Napier; brother-in-law Richard Carlson; and nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, February 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Bean Cemetery on Centerville Road in Prichard, West Virginia, and the family requests masks be worn for everyone’s safety. Rollins Funeral Home is assisting.

Jerry Maurice Sowder, 80, of Kenova, W.Va. Passed away January 31, 2022 at his home. He was born November 9, 1941 a son of the late Barnett T. and Susie J. Maxwell Sowder. He worked as a store clerk for Bill Robertson, who was the owner of Spring Valley Food Mart. Bill was extremely kind to Jerry during the many years he worked at the store. Jerry was an avid UK Basketball fan and he enjoyed golfing. He was a member of Kenova Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Lawrence and Steve Sowder and one sister, Janis Caldwell. He is survived by his brother, Raleigh “Red” Sowder and his wife, Janet, with whom he made his home; one sister-in-law, June Sowder and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Spring Valley Memory Gardens with Minister Amos Prince officiating. Emil Altos Epling, 83, of Ceredo, W.Va. Passed away on Monday January 31, 2022 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. He was born February 9, 1938 in Wayne County, a son of the late, Oscar and Margaret Epling. He worked as a drywall installer for Belchers Drywall. He was a member of Christ Temple Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Milford Marie Crockett Epling and one brother, Oscar Epling, Jr. He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda (Danny) Copley and Loretta (Mark) Canup; three sons, Charles (Angie) Crockett, Lee (Patricia) Smith, and Terry (Teresa) Smith; two sisters, Arbutus Berry, and Blanche Adkins; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon on Wednesday February 2, 2022 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, W.Va. Graveside services will follow at 12:30 at Docks Creek Cemetery. David Ronald Parsons,74, of Kenova, W.Va. passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born May 21, 1947 in Genoa, W.Va. a son of the late William David and Goldie Thompson Parsons. David was a former Maintenance Supervisor with Service Pump and Supply and was employed for 25 years with Pilgrim Glass. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Judy Teresa Holt Parsons and three brothers Nathan Thompson, Bobby Joe Thompson and Sam Parsons. Survivors include his beloved wife Jacqueline Lucas Parsons; two daughters Tammy Rena Parsons Cook and Jennifer Michelle Parsons; step-son Evan Adkins; Sister Loretta Linville (Cletis); granddaughter Shaina Rene’ Cook; grand-son Shane Tyler Cook; special nephew Kevin Kitts and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, family and neighbors.
