A lifelong resident of Kenova, WV, Jason attended Ceredo-Kenova and Spring Valley High Schools, and was known by all that ever met him as one of the most kind and positive members of his community. Throughout the bulk of his youth and early adulthood, Jason was a very gifted athlete, selfless teammate in many sports, and orchestrated countless, legendary pick-upbasketball games in numerous gyms across the entire region that featured nearly everyone in a hundred-mile radius that ever picked up a basketball, including numerous NBA draft picks. He was the same person on and off the court, fun, competitive, confident, and most of all, selfless. He loved the game of basketball, but more importantly, he loved the comradery those games brought with them. Simply put, for the entirety of his life, Jason Hensley brought people together.
In addition to his ability to bring people from all walks of life together, Jason was always an incredibly unique individual. He didn’t bend to the will of popular trends, culture, fads, etc. From his many wild hair styles to his cutoff only t-shirts and shorts despite weather or surroundings, Jason was unapologetically himself. Everyone that had the pleasure of being near him knew his signature grin, which lit up every room. His character, incredible sense of humor, quick wit, and unusual angle on the world, always made him an absolute joy to be around.
He was the kind of high-character son that made his parents and family exceedingly proud, an outstanding and giving friend to everyone that knew him, a fond and devoted husband for nearly two decades, and perhaps more importantly, one of the most loving and caring fathers that anyone could ever imagine. As soon as Emily and Taylor were born, Jason sacrificed career aspirations to become a full-time dad, where he not only raised his girls to be kind, caring, and compassionate, but shared with them numerous fun hobbies, including movies, pro and college sports, anime, pro wrestling, art, comics, and anything else he could possibly do to spend time with them, his greatest joy. Hewill be remembered and cherished for the countless memories of laughter, kindness, and positivity that he brought to everyone that had the pleasure of meeting him. Jason Lynn Hensley will be greatly missed.

My friend:
As life tends to do, J and I did not see one another very often despite living in a small town. But when we did, it was always full of joy, laughter and the smile saying hi Mooch mi’s seeing ya buddy. The last I saw him was several months back while I was on patrol, I stopped to say hi when I saw him outside. He gave me that smile and played everything off as he always did. After a few minutes I had to leave to run a call. I said, I love you buddy if you need anything call me. He said I love you too mooch, we need to get together sometime. Absolutely golden hearted, I will miss my friend dearly. Love you J.
