Marcella Ann Morris Wolfe,76, of Kenova, W.Va. passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022 at her home. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at the Jefferson Avenue Church of God, of which she was a member, with Pastor Greg Tomlinson officiating. Interment will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. She was born May 26, 1946 in Kenova, WV. a daughter of the late Delores Thompson. She was a 1965 graduate of C-K High School. Marcella was one of the first employees hired and one of the last to go at the former Harts and Big Bear in Ceredo. She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all that knew her. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Timothy Morris “Tim” Wolfe; son, John E. Wolfe; three brothers Bill “Cowtracks” Thompson, David Abernathy and Marshall R. Thompson and sister Gladys Young. She is survived by a daughter Dee Anne Wolfe Kennedy and two grandchildren Justin Tyler Giuffrida and Victoria Anne Giuffrida and a very special niece Jeris Ann Fry and other numerous nieces and nephews. Charalene Osborne Hatten
Sunday, December 4, 2022, with family at her bedside, Charalene Osborne Hatten, 89, of Boyd County departed from this earth to spend her favorite holiday season in heaven with her Lord and Savior. A member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, prior to illness, Charalene attended Kenova Church of God with friends and family that she loved dearly. Charalene a 1952 graduate of Thomas R. Brown High School in Catlettsburg, KY leaves behind her husband of 69 years, Larry O. C. Hatten, two daughters, Theresa H. Jackson and Paula (Greg) Larsen, and a son, Frank (Bettie) Hatten; seven grandchildren, Larry (Jennifer) Larson, Stephanie (Devon) Barnes, Daniel (Courtney) Larsen, Frank Hatten, Bethanie (Cory) Stinson, Sydney (Chris) Graves and Chris (Dawn) Ball; a sister-in-law, Marion Hatten Sansom; along with a host of great-grandchildren, a great great grandchild, nieces and nephews. Charalene was preceded in death by her parents, Zephy and Stella Bocook Osborne; twin sisters, Irene Osborne and Pauline Wellman; brothers, James (Bud) and Paul Osborne; sisters-in-law, Billie Ward Osborne and JoAnn McDavid Osborne; brother-in-law, John C. Wellman and a great grandson, Benjamin Hatten. Shortly after graduation from high school Charalene worked at the Sylvania plant in Huntington, WV which produced miniature electronic tubes and fuses for artillery during the war. In the 1970’s through 1984 she worked for Meade Construction Company. Charalene took great pride in her family her son works for Columbia Gas Transmission and has continued a family tradition in farming that dates back prior to the American Revolution. She was also proud that both daughters contributed to the healthcare profession with one obtaining a doctorate in medicine from Marshall University and the other earning a PhD in nursing education from Nova Southeastern University. She was a very loyal fan of girls basketball, priding herself as having never missed a girls basketball game while her daughter Paula played at Catlettsburg then Boyd County High School and later for Marshall University. Charalene later became an avid fan of the University of Kentucky Basketball Team. The family would like to thank all of those who have contributed to her care during her illness. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Kenova Church of God and the funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2022 at the church with her grandson, Pastor Larry Larsen officiating. Burial will follow in East Ashland Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be accepted and appreciated or memorial contributions may be made in Charalene’s honor to the charity of your choice. Barbara Lynn Lloyd,74, of Ceredo, W.Va. passed away Sunday, November 26, 2022 at her home. She was born December 19, 1947 in Kenova, WV. a daughter of the late Thomas and Fern Louise Holland Hamilton. She was a former cook with the Wayne County Board of Education. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Donald and John Hamilton and one sister Sue Fedczak. She is survived by a daughter Alisha Cavanaugh; son Kenneth Lloyd, Jr.; granddaughter Kendra Lloyd; three great-grandchildren and life partner Larry O’Dell. Deborah Louise Sizemore,73, formerly of Kenova, W.Va. passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at the UK Medical Center. She was born November 11, 1949 a daughter of the late James Leo and Donna Jean Ball. She was a 1968 graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School and worked at Interstate Breads and Novamont. She is survived by her husband Ted Sizemore; daughter Tricia Sutton; son Aaron Sizemore; grandsons Thomas Sutton, III and Garrett Buffin; brother David Leo Ball and special friends Norma Ripley and Diane Napier Adkins. Steven Leslie Caldwell
Steven Leslie Caldwell, 66, of Ashland, Ky. passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022 at the Community Care Center in Ashland. He was born March 14, 1956 in Huntington, WV son of the late Ted and Dolly Ruth Caldwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents Bogar and Eula Caldwell and Mose and Letha Damron. Steve was a veteran having joined the Army in 1974. He loved martial arts and was a whiz with his numb-chucks. He also loved reading his Bible on a daily basis. Steve had a big heart and loved his family dearly. Survivors include his sister Kathy Caldwell Swaney (Jeff); son Shawn Frechette; daughters Cheryl Blankenship and Brittney Stephens; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two nieces; one great-nephew; three great-nieces; two uncles; three aunts and numerous cousins. The family would like to thank the staff at the Community Care Center for their care of Steve. Also, thank you to Marie, Ernie and Shawn for all they did to help Stevie. His caretaker Stephanie Roberts was awesome. Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Steven Griffin Jordan
Steven Griffin Jordan, 75, son of Cortland and Betty Jordan, passed away at his home in Catlettsburg, Kentucky on November 21, 2022. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Allen C. Jordan. He is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Linda R. Jordan, a brother, Marvin Jordan (Judy), children, Adam Jordan (Kelly), Evelyn Simmons(Bradwick), and Kristen Parsons(Joshua), grandchildren, Garrett Jordan, Hunter Jordan, Savannah Watts (Kyle), Luke Parsons, and Logan Parsons and his beloved dog Max.
Steve was raised and lived the majority of his life in Kenova, WV. , he loved his community and felt honored to be in service to it. A dedicated employee for over 30 years at Big Sandy Furniture he retired as Safety and Security Director. He served as Municipal Judge in Kenova from 1986-2019 and upon retirement he still dedicated his time as a visiting judge in order to continue the work he loved. Steve also was a devoted member of the Kenova fire department, and an Army veteran that served in Germany during the Vietnam Era. WSAZ recognized him as a Hometown Hero for his efforts in establishing Kenova’s Historical Society. Steve belonged to many organizations including The Masonic Lodge 110, Sons of The American Revolution, and The American Legion Post 93. One of the many joys of his volunteer work was playing Santa for the American Legion. He loved the joy and hope he brought to the children who told him their Christmas wishes at Breakfast with Santa and seeing the smiles on their faces during the Christmas parade when he and his wife rode the sleigh together. He was a member of Huntington Christian Church, and dedicated himself to Jesus. His whole life was dedicated to the service of others and the betterment of his community.

Katherine Allen Moore
Katherine Allen Moore, 89, of Ceredo, W.Va., loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend and devoted teacher, passed away Monday, November, 21, 2022 peacefully at her home. Katherine was born May 27, 1933 in Huntington a daughter of the late Kerney and Dora Allen. She graduated from C-K High School and Marshall University. Katherine loved everything Marshall. She was employed by the Wayne County Board of Education and she taught for many years at Kellogg Elementary and C-K High School. Katherine loved teaching and after her public school career ended she began Winnie the Pooh Preschool, which she ran in her home on Ridgelawn Road in Kenova. She had a great desire to prepare children for their future and eventually Katherine opened The Training Station Preschool within the Kenova United Methodist Church with a dedicated staff which continues to teach children today. Katherine and her teachers, made an impact on generations of children in their care. She loved her church and through the years she served as a Sunday school teacher, worked with the children ministries, started the Fall Bazaar and volunteered to help anywhere she was needed. She was married to Donald Moore and together they raised two sons, whom she loved with all her heart. She also enjoyed spending time with her extended family and was a devoted daughter to her mother. Katherine spent her life caring for others and she will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Beard Moore; a son, Aaron John Moore; a brother, Sherrill Allen and a sister-in-law, Jean Allen. She is survived by her son, Lance (Paula) Moore; grandsons, Seth (Katie) Moore and Blake (Megan) Moore; two great grandsons, Braylon Moore and Miles Poe; one brother, Frank Allen; a sister-in-law, Donna Allen; and a niece, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3:30 on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at Kenova United Methodist Church. Funeral services begin at 3:30 with Pastor Lindsay Thorp and Pastor Andrew Tennent officiating.
