Darrell Wayne Dixon, 75, of Kenova, WV., passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023 in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted 3:00 PM Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Rollins Funeral Home with Minister Luke Goulds officiating. He was born June 14, 1947 in Springfield, Ohio a son of the late Orville Dixon, Jr. and Phyllis Dewitt. Darrell was a proud veteran having served in the U.S. Army for 22 years. He was employed with Big Bear for 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 93 whose Honor Guard will administer military rites. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Larry Orhead, Terry Dixon and Linda Powell. He leaves behind his beloved wife Doshia Jane Dixon; daughter Angie Wilson; son Darrell Dixon; siblings Rhonda Travis and Pam Nesslerotte; 3 step-children Kara Christian, Amanda Carter and Lachrisia Stevens and 7 grandchildren Shayden, Isabella, Colton, Ava, Liam, Cece and Nickie. Julia Ann Christain, 93, of Kenova, WV., widow of the late James H. Christain, peacefully passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023 in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted 12:00 PM Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Pastor James Asbury officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. She was born July 16, 1929 in Kenova a daughter of the late Fred Marcum and Bessie Elkins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters, she is the last family member of America’s Greatest Generation. Julia was the mother of two and the “mom” of many. She leaves behind a daughter, Betty Lynn Murray (Richard) and a son, James H. Christain, Jr. (Barbara). In addition, she is survived by four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. A true and deeply devoted child of God, she was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church of Kenova. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Glendall Lee Dean, 61, of Prichard, WV. passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral service will be conducted 8:00 PM Friday, June 2, 2023 at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Perry officiating. Glendall was born February 9, 1962 in Louisa, Ky. a son of the late Glen and Nellie Hatten Dean. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-dad Edward Gilkerson; daughter Amanda Fannin; brother Gary Dean; sister Susan Charles; nephew Glen Charles and son-in-law Herbert Hooser. He is survived by two daughters Samantha Hooser and Kristen Dean; two sons Ricky Dean and Devon Deering; son-in-law James Fannin; grandchildren Brooklyn Fannin, Maddax Fannin, Lynnox Fannin, Samuel Hooser, Glendon Hooser and Axton Henderson; brother Kevin Dean; uncle and aunt Cullie and Jonnie Dee Hatten and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind special friends Rodney Utley and Fred and Martha McSorley. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Friday, June 2, 2023. Michael Shane Workman, 59, of Kenova, WV. passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023 at his home. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, June 2, 2023 at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Ingels officiating. Interment will follow in Bowen Cemetery. Shane was born November 9, 1963 in Huntington, WV. a son of Frank and Glenna Workman. Shane loved to fish, hunt and anything involving the outdoors. He loved playing guitar with his boys and spending time with his family and being the family clown. Shane also loved spending time with two special friends Roger Bowen and Steve Fedczach. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law Jonathan Workman (Megan) and Matthew Workman; a brother and sister-in-law Guy Workman (Penni); nieces and nephews Allen Workman (Katie), Kaytlyn Donahoe (Michael) and Morgan Napier (Aaron) and ten great nieces and nephews Brylee, Sophie, Blaize, Gracie, Charlie, Rhett, Harleigh, Brookie, Jolie and Kayleb. Shawn Henderson Wahl, 61, of Kenova, WV. passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at his home. Graveside service will be conducted 11:00 AM. Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Hillcrest Cemetery with Pastor Greg Page officiating. He was born May 13, 1962 in East Lansing Michigan a son of the late Austin and Dixie Weaver Sloan. Shawn received his Bachelor’s Degree at Marshall University in Criminal Justice and was a Juvenile Supervisor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Shane Austin Wahl. Survivors include his wife Robin Plymale Wahl; daughter Ryleigh Wahl; son Trey Wahl; mother-in-law Lana Plymale and three sisters. Katie Bryan Baldwin, 65, of Kenova, WV., passed away Friday, May 19, 2023 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Byard officiating. Katie was born October 8, 1957 in Huntington, WV. daughter of the late Charles and Doris McCloud Bryan. She was a retired CNA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Survivors include her beloved husband Steve W. Baldwin; one son William “Bill” Baldwin; two daughters Misty Baldwin and Kristy Holland; eight grandchildren; two brothers Silas Bryan and George Bryan and two sisters Sarah Withrow and Sue Patterson. Ella Mae Adkins, 95, of Kenova, W.Va. passed away peacefully on Thursday May 18, 2023 at Legacy Riverview Nursing Home. She was born April 19, 1928, in Kenova, the daughter of the late Dock and Birdie Smith Shannon. Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil G. Adkins; her son, Rev. G. Randall Adkins; brothers, Harold and Jack Shannon; and grandson-in-law, Joshua Collins. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Rhonda; grandchildren, Matt (Jessica), Erin, and Sean (Leslie); and great granddaughter, Amelia Pearl. Special thanks to her long time best friend and devoted caregiver, Peggy Sturgill. Ella was a faithful member of Kenova United Methodist Church for 64 years. She was also the receptionist/insurance clerk for Dr. W. W. Mills for many years. Visitation will be Monday, May 22, 2023 from 12 Noon to 1:00 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p. m. following the visitation, at Spring Valley Memory Gardens. Larry E. Sullivan ,75, of Ona, WV. passed away Monday, May 8, 2023 at Teays Valley Center. Graveside service will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 12, 2023 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Barboursville. He was born June 12, 1947 in Huntington, WV. a son of the late Donald and Garnett Patty Sullivan. In addition to his parents’ he was preceded in death by two brothers Richard Sullivan and Charles “Charlie” Sullivan.. Survivors include two brothers Roger Sullivan and Donald Sullivan; one sister and brother-in-law Sandra Hay (Donald) and companion Thelma Lowe. Albert Patten Anderson ,82, of Kenova, WV., passed away Friday, May 5, 2023 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Memorial service will be conducted 7:00 P.M. Friday, May 12, 2023 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova with Pastor Andrew Tennant officiating. Albert was born December 17, 1940 in Elizabethtown, Ohio a son of the late Pat and Della Bailey Anderson. Albert was an active member of White Water Township Volunteer Fire Department in Elizabethtown, Ohio for 18 years. After purchasing Anderson’s Grocery from his parents, he helped his father build the mobile home park in Elizabethtown and later together with his brother-in-law, built Dry Fork Mobile Home Park. Albert was the former owner of Dock’s Creek River Terminal and was instrumental in the building of Lavalette Golf Course with his father and two brothers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Dale Anderson. He is survived by his wife Joan Lotton Anderson; daughter Sally Anderson; grandchildren Brandon and Alexandra; siblings Josette Hunt, Loren and Kenny and several nieces and nephews. Stanley Ray Thacker, 70, of Kenova, WV., passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Akers and Pastor Tony Cicenas officiating. Stanley was born August 29, 1952 in Huntington, WV. a son of the late John Harrison and Katherine Elizabeth Thacker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Charles Thacker and Bobby Dale Thacker; two nieces Cheryl Thacker and Buffy Arthur and two brother’s-in-law Roger Haynie and Ralph Selby and a sister-in-law Sandra Thacker. He is survived by five sisters Betty June Haynie, Katie J. Brammer (Larry), Edra Selby, Helen Faye Rickman (Charlie) and Elizabeth A. Ewan (Stan) and one brother John Thacker, Jr; sister-in-law Judy Thacker and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Kenova Volunteer Fire Department, The Kenova Police Department, The Church family at First Baptist Church of Kenova and his Sunday School Agape Class and especially Tim Bias and Eddie Marcum for their love, understanding and support for Stanley during his lifetime.
