David “Davey” Robertson, 50, passed away September 2, 2021. Davey was a lifelong resident of the Ceredo and Kenova communities and a proud graduate of C-K High School, Class of 1989. Davey is the son of Willie “Pete” and Phyllis Dillon Robertson Jr., the husband of Christie Adkins Robertson and the proud father of David Mason and Jayden Marie Robertson. He is the son-in-law of Loretta Adkins; the Brother-in-law to Mark and Bridgett Adkins and uncle to their son, Cody, of Kenova W.Va. and Michael and Debbie Adkins and uncle to their children, Caleb and Jenna of St. Charles, Missouri; Davey was also a friend and brother to so many others. He was a local business owner of Robertson’s Signs and Graphics and a proud Eagle Scout. Davey was a 30+ year member of the Ceredo and Kenova Volunteer Fire Departments and was a founding member of Fire and Iron Motorcycle Club Station 29. His kindness and generosity will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 6, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Ceredo with Tim “Santa” Yaniko officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the church. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Thompson, Michael E.

Michael E. Thompson, 71, of Wayne, W.Va. passed away peacefully with his children Paul and Jamie by his side Sunday, August 29, 2021 at the Wayne Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Graveside service will be conducted 12:30 Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Spring Valley Memory Gardens 2813 Goodwill Road, Huntington, W.Va. 25704, with Brother Rick Wellman officiating. He was born March 11, 1950 in Huntington, W.Va. son of Helen J. Smith Thompson and the late Julius Thompson. He was retired from the City of Huntington Sanitation Board. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by one sister Dianalynn Thompson, maternal grandparents William C. and Lula Smith and paternal grandparents Boyd & Viola Thompson. In addition to his mother he is survived by his children Paul Michael Thompson and daughter and son-in-law Jamie Noble (Dustin); six grandchildren Jacob, Josh, Jarrod, Emma, Claire and Ava; sister and brother-in-law Patricia “Patty” Wellman (Rick); brother and sister-in-law Tommy R. Blake, Charles F “Frank”

Charles Franklin “Frank” Blake, 79, of Ceredo, W.Va. passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021 at his residence. He was born November 2, 1941 in Wayne County, W.Va. son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Nancy Margaret McKinney Blake. He was a retired crane operator from Special Metals. Frank was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy and was a former member of the American Legion Post 93. He enjoyed bowling, the Cincinnati Reds and the Marshall Thundering Herd. Survivors include his beloved wife Beth Campioni Blake; sons Collis R. Blake (Shanna) and Jon Campioni (Tara); two brothers Jim and Bill Blake; two sisters Charlene Thompson and Anna Mae Butcher and two granddaughters Hannah and Emily Campioni. Smith, George E

George Edward Smith, 85, of Kenova, W.Va, beloved husband, father, brother, friend and child of God, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, August 22, 2021. George Ed was born on February 22, 1936 to the late Edward and Maxine Taylor Smith. He was a graduate of Buffalo High School. He retired from J.H. Fletcher & Company after 44 years of service. After retirement he worked for Griffith & Feil Drug Store and volunteered for the Good Samaritan Center in Kenova. George Ed was a proud veteran who served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the First Independent Missionary Baptist Church and he attended Heritage Freewill Baptist Church. He was a wonderful Christian man who loved to spread the love of Christ to everyone he met. He was kind, caring, and generous. He loved his entire family with all his heart and he was loved equally in return. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Zelda Hatten and Nadine Hughes; and his mother and father-in-law, Palma and Jay Workman. Survivors include his wife, Delores “Dody” Workman Smith, whom he loved and adored for 65 years; four children, George E. “Peewee” (Kathy Riley) Smith, II, Doug (Kim) Smith, Todd (Missy) Smith and Beth (John) Gover; grandchildren, Lakin (Zev) May, Kelsey (Cody) Wallace, Paige Smith, Tyler (Olivia) Smith, Brooke Smith, Harrison and Hamilton Gover; great grandchildren, Jaden May, Jemma May, Jorgi May and Maiara Smith; two sisters, Katherine Trivett and Peggy Ball; a special nephew, Matthew Workman; two special cousins, Marcella Canterbury and Wanda Wellman and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends; two special caregivers, Rocky and Evelyn Wolfe. Kalinoski, William E

William Edward Kalinoski, 79, of Huntington passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Graveside service will be conducted 10:30 A.M. Saturday, August 28, 2021, with Pastor Robert Gillette and Pastor Greg Matney officiating, at Maple Hill Cemetery. He was born November 21, 1941 in Montcoal, W.Va. son of the late Ferdnand and Anne Weber Kalinoski. He was a schoolteacher and coach having taught and coached in various school systems in Ohio and W.Va. He was a retired coal miner working 30 years at the number 7 coal mine. After retirement he continued to work at Wal Mart in various capacities and leaving only after his heath would not allow him to continue. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Virginia Dickens and a brother Stanley Kalinoski. He is survived by his beloved wife Mary Ellen Brafford Kalinoski; children William Brad Kalinoski, Anita Ellen Kalinoski-Hatfield (Ron) and David Clarence Kalinoski (Marianne); grandchildren Emilee Elizabeth Hay (Louis Enriquez), Mary Olivia Kalinoski (Ashley Howell), Lauren Grace Hatfield and Lilly Kathryn Hatfield; brothers Ferdnand “Fred” Kalinoski, Jr. and Tommy Kalinoski; sister Peggy Kalinoski; friends of the family Tinatsu Wallace: Ling Chen and Angie Chen and numerous other family members and friends. Albert L. “Lee” Jordan, 78, of Kenova passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at his residence. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Thursday, August 19, 2021, with Pastor Rodney Dishman officiating, at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. Interment will follow in Dock’s Creek Cemetery with the American Legion Post 93 Honor Guard conducting military rites. Lee was born December 19, 1942 in Kenova W.Va. son of the late Albert W. and Mary Jane Conley Jordan. He was a retired social worker and was a member of the American Legion Post 93. Lee was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army and retired from the U.S. Army Reserves with 35 years of service. He is survived by his beloved wife Betty Jean Jordan; children Norman Romans, Kip Jordan and Heather Leigh Jordan; grandchildren Ashlee Willis, Brandon Romans, Conley Rosser, Savannah Dudley, Jack Jordan and Ansley Romans; great-grandchildren Annabelle Romans and Amelia Rosser; a very special family member Tina Turner Sarver and numerous other family members and friends. Katherine I. Bowen, 92, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021 in the St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born May 13, 1929 in Bristol, Va. a daughter of the late Bennie and Opal Hutton Musser.  Katherine loved reading, traveling, antiquing and gardening. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Earl M. Bowen; son Stephen Bowen and sister Wanda Chaffins. She is survived by a daughter Deborah Sue McGlone; grandsons Christopher McGlone (Kelley), Bryan McGlone and Nate McGlone; great-grandson Greyson McGlone; great-granddaughter Megan Hankins; brother-in-law Jerry Chaffins,; nieces and nephews John Farley, Cindy Hall, Greg McGlone, Teresa Wells, Jeff Chaffins and Mark Chaffins and two sisters Eleetha Farley and Priscilla McGlone. Money, Sr, Donald L

DONALD LEE MONEY, SR., 91, of Kenova, West Virginia was welcomed home by Jesus, while surrounded by his family, on Thursday, August 12, 2021. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home. The funeral will follow with Pastor David Akers officiating. Interment is to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Don was born to William Thomas Money and Bertha Wyatt Money on November 14, 1929. He was a proud graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School and Marshall College. He married his sweetheart of nearly 70 years, Joane Spicer Money, on December 5, 1947. Don was a long-standing member of First Baptist Church of Kenova. He retired as an electric shop supervisor from CSX after 43 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Thomas Money, Jr; sister, Betty Money Spry; two special friends, Had Dale and cousin Carl Ward; and his angel, Joane. Surviving Don are his daughter, Beverly Ann Shannon; son, Donald Lee Money, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Sonja Money; five granddaughters, Heather Dawn Shannon Morrone (Trey), Ashlee Rand Shannon Hutchison (Matt), Taylor Regen Money Dean (Dustin), Allison Shea Conley Davis (Zach), Karlee Rebecca Money Fischer (Kyle); and 11 great-grandchildren: Blass, Kane, Giorgi, Jacob, Lauren, Maddox, Aiden, Tate, Kenleigh, Zander, and Beckett; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Kane Morrone, Jacob Hutchison, Kyle Fischer, Dustin Dean, Zach Davis, and Dalton Tucker. Don was a dedicated “papaw” to the football programs of Fort Gay, Ceredo-Kenova, and Spring Valley for over 25 years. He also enjoyed golf, traveling, and especially loved his big family. We take comfort in knowing he has been reunited with his Savior and his sweetheart. “Well done thou good and faithful servant…enter now into the joy of thy Lord” Matthew 25:21

Rev. Glenn Randall (Randy) Adkins

Reverend Glenn Randall (Randy) Adkins, 1954 – 2020.

It has been a little over one year since Randy passed away on May 19, 2020 after a courageous battle with ALS with the loving support of his beloved family. Due to Covid-19 restrictions and precautions his final services were delayed.

Now, Randy’s family would like to invite you to a service of thanksgiving and celebration of his life and faith, Saturday, August 14, 2021 at First United Methodist Church, 1124 Fifth Avenue, Huntington, W. Va.

The service, which Randy planned, will begin at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be two hours before the service at the church.

Denver Lee Thompson, 79, of Kenova, W.Va. passed away Friday, August 6, 2021 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. Denver was born March 5, 1942 in Wayne County a son of the late, Clyde E. and Mabel Moler Thompson. He was a 1960 graduate of C-K High School. For over 20 years Denver was a truck driver for Economy Foods. Denver had also been employed by Kenova Box Company for many years. He was a member of the First Independent Missionary Baptist Church since 1964 where he taught the Adult Bible Class. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Darrell Thompson and sister-in-law, Linda Thompson and a sister, Dovetta Ruth Thompson. Survivors include one sister, Ellen Carol Caldwell; one brother and sister-in-law, Carlos and Mary Ruth Thompson; four nieces, Lisa (Bernie) Watts, Karen (Derrick) Allen, Carla (Jerry) Spence and Dovetta (Kevin) Adkins; three nephews, Jimmy Thompson, Brian (Cleta) Thompson and Timothy Thompson, and several great and great great, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his favorite cat, Copper. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at The First Independent Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Zach Johnson and Brother Jimmy Thompson officiating. Visitation will be two hours before the service at the church. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
