Heck, Larry J

LARRY J. HECK left this world on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, after a struggle with lymphoma and its complications. He was the youngest child of Ivan Glen and May Midkiff Heck born in June 1944 in Park Circle, Kenova, W.Va. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jennings, Bill and Frank; and two sisters, Rose Hatten and Lois Treadway. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Jo Bradley Heck; beloved son Bradley Glen Heck (Heather); one sister-in-law, Betty Heck and numerous loving nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind two special friends, David Pennington and Bill Bailey.  Larry graduated from Ceredo-Kenova High School, West Virginia Tech and Marshall University. During his career, he was a teacher, coached at Raceland, Ky., High School, Vinson High School and finally returned to his alma mater Ceredo-Kenova High School to coach for a few years. He developed and was the administrator of the Northern Wayne County Vocational School, then retired as an Assistant Superintendent. He proudly represented Wayne County in the WV House of Delegates for three terms. Due to the current pandemic, services will be graveside, 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 25, at Spring Valley Memory Gardens with Pastor Scott Byard officiating. Those attending are ask to mask, social distance and are invited to bring their own lawn chairs. There will be no visitation and no procession to the cemetery. Cornwell, Jennings

Jennings Cornwell, 88, of Kenova, WV, husband of Violet Cornwell for 63 years passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. Jennings was preceded in death by his parents, Jennings and Wilma Cornwell; his brother, Dan Cornwell and his twin sister, Jeanette Dorsey. In addition to his wife he is survived by his three children, Brenda McClain, Richard Cornwell and Ron Cornwell; four grandchildren, Richie Cornwell, Katie Davis (Matthew), Kennedy McClain, and Cameron Cornwell. He was very proud to be the great-grandfather of Brayden, Austin and Raelynn. Jennings is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews. He served in the US Navy in the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Gwinn and was a member of American Legion Post 93 of Kenova. He had a fierce love for his country, the Lord, his family and The Thundering Herd. Jennings was known for his service cooking at the Kenova United Methodist Church for several years, serving delicious meals and lots of love and laughter. He was known for his love for the church choir and could always be heard singing hymns. Those calling on the family are asked to follow CDC guidelines and state mandates of social distancing and wearing a face mask. A small gathering will be held Thursday October 15, 2020 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home for those who wish to celebrate his life and memory. Price, Carla A

Carla Ann Price, 53, of Huntington, W.Va. passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Dock’s Creek Cemetery. Carla was born November 26, 1966 in Huntington, W.Va. a daughter of the late Charles Flora, Sr. and the late Patricia Jeffers Chapman. She was a homemaker that loved her grandchildren and loved to give out orders. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Charles Flora, Jr. and her boyfriend Danny Ray Sellards. She is survived by two sons Daniel Price, Jr. (Desiree) and Corey Price (Samantha); two brothers Billy Spurlock (Alicia) and Jay Flora (Rhonda); one sister Rhonda Price (Danny) and seven grandchildren Junior, Tommy, C.J., Caitlyn, Dakota, Colton and Cayden and great-grandson baby Daniel. Miller, Lonnie E

Lonnie E. Miller, 76, of Prichard, W.Va. passed away Saturday, October 10, 2020 at his residence. Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Sloas Cemetery in Lucasville, Ohio with Brother Darrell Brewer officiating. Lonnie was born January 30, 1944 in Wayne County, W.Va. a son of the late Erastus and Lillie Mae Mills Miller. He was a former auto mechanic and attended the Prichard Freewill Baptist Church. Lonnie enjoyed fishing and camping and loved his farm. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five siblings, Delores Marshall, Dorcas Hale, Lillie Raines, Mary Agnes Miller and Raymond Miller and two nephews Ron Marshall and Jimmie McGinnis. He is survived by his beloved wife Judy Harris Miller; one sister and brother-in-law Jennie McGinnis (James); eight nephews Terry, Carl, David and Jeff Hale, Mike and Danny Raines, Greg Marshall and Rick Miller and three nieces Sandy Smith, Lisa McGinnis and Tammy Wells. Robert Clinton Walker, 74, of Kenova passed away Friday, October 2, 2020 at his residence. Robert was born May 1, 1946 in Catlettsburg, Ky. a son of the late Robert and Ruby Cyrus Walker. He was a retired Lab Supervisor from Ashland Oil and Marathon Oil. Survivors include his beloved wife Margaret Reeves Walker; one son and daughter-in-law Robert A. Walker (Laura); one daughter Mary E. Walker; two grandsons Ryan A. Walker and Eli L. Walker; one sister Louann and two brothers Glenn and Decker. There will be no services at this time. David Allen Holley, 70, of Huntington, W.Va. was united with his heavenly father on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at his residence. Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Dock’s Creek Cemetery with Pastor Douglas C. Peters officiating. David was born November 14, 1949 in Cabell County, W.Va. a son of the late Other and Maudie Nottingham Holley. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Hobert, Harold, Cecil and John Holley and four sisters Zena Johnson, Esther Jenkins, Rita Kessell and Patsy Miller and mother and father-in-law Kenneth and Beatrice J. Adkins. He is survived by his beloved wife Wanda Adkins Holley; one daughter Pamela Holley; one sister Gloria Holley; two sisters-in-law Sumi Holley and Judy Adkins; one brother-in-law and his wife Larry Adkins (Janet) and numerous nieces and nephews. James Lionel Porter, 74, of Jeffersonville, Indiana passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Baptist Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Hillcrest Cemetery with Minister Bill Banks officiating. James was born September 11, 1946 in Huntington a son of the late Harold “Pedo” and Mary Elizabeth Spangler Porter. He was a retired manufacturing executive. Spry-Dingess, Irene

Irene Spry Dingess, 92, of Kenova passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born October 24, 1927 in Wayne Co. W.Va. daughter of the late Ira and Martha Queen Spry. She was a retired File Clerk with the Logan Corporation and graduated from Logan High School. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gilbert Dingess; one daughter Kathy Meeks; one grandson Jordan Dingess; 11 brothers and sisters Garland, Warnie, Leo & Reece Spry, Sadie Napier, Clarcie Mullins, Mary Maynard, Cleo Spence, Sarah Hall, Brookie Rickman and Rokie Spry. Survivors include her adored children, two sons, Dan Dingess (Peggy) and Jim Dingess (Cathy); one son-in-law Bob Meeks; one sister Jean Robertson (Bill); special niece/daughter, Karen Lunsford; 10 cherished grandchildren Brad Dingess, Kara Hicks, Leanne Craft, Jonathan Dingess, Emily Meeks, Sarah Dingess, Lisa DeFade, Curt Davis, Brittany Ascenico and Chelsey Turner; 20 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other family. McGlone, Glen R

Glen Ray McGlone, 73, of Kenova passed away Monday, September 21, 2020 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born August 27, 1947 in Kenova, W.Va. son of the late Glen Walton and Minty Brafford McGlone. Glen was a graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School, West Virginia Tech with a Bachelors in Industrial Management and he received his Masters in Business Management from Marshall University. He was a retired Systems Analyst with Union Carbide and a member of the First Baptist Church of Kenova. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Virdle and Mamie Brafford and paternal grandparents Will and Pricy McGlone. Survivors include his beloved wife Deborah Sue Bowen McGlone; three sons and two daughter’s-in-law Christopher Sean McGlone (Kelley), Bryan Marshall McGlone and Glen Nathan McGlone (Karlee); two grandchildren Meggie Kincaid and Greyson McGlone; special uncle Ivan McGlone (Jill) and four cousins Mary Ellen Brafford Kalinoski (Bill), Gary Brafford, Teressa Wells (Larry) and Gregory McGlone.  Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 P.M. Perdue-Eddy, Mina L

MINA LEE PERDUE EDDY, 90 of Ceredo, W.Va., passed away September 10, 2020. She is now in her heavenly home with her husband of 63 years, Hallett R. Eddy Jr. Mina was born Dec 20, 1929, in Ceredo, to Frances and Willard Perdue. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers Stanley Perdue, Harvey Perdue, and is survived by her sister, Carolyn Perdue Tracewell of Parkersburg, W.Va. Also surviving Mina Lee are son Ross Eddy (Anita); daughter Richelle Walters (Kenny); son Ryan Eddy (Terri); grandchildren Dylan Smith, Shelby Eddy (Travis), Jacob Eddy (Mary), Crissa Keefer (Mason); seven great-grandchildren, extended family and friends, as well as church family. Besides being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she loved cooking for family gatherings, scrapbooking, crafting, and traveling with her family. Her heart and home were always open! Mina was a lifelong member of Ceredo United Methodist Church, where she was choir member, Sunday School teacher, piano player, historian, president of women’s society and sung at numerous weddings and funerals. She was always seeking souls to come to Jesus. What a great loss we are suffering, but what a great blessing we were given, to have known and been loved by this wonderful woman.
