Bishop James Freddie Ferguson, 73, of Wayne passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023 at his residence. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova with Rev. Robert Gillette officiating. Interment will follow in the Ferguson Family Cemetery. Freddie was born March 17, 1950 in Williamson, WV. a son of the late James Luther and Garnett Ferguson. He was the Founder and Senior Pastor for 42 years at the Prichard Church of God. He retired from the Wayne County Board of Education. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, who raised him, Fred and Ida Ferguson; his first wife MaryAnn Capan Ferguson and his son Freddie B. Ferguson. Survivors include his beloved wife of 40 years Marion M. Cochenour Ferguson; grandchildren Shannon B. Ferguson and Charity A. Ferguson; uncle Ray Waller; special cousin Debbie Ratliff and sons; special brother and sister-in-law Sam and Paula Cochenour; special nieces and nephew and spouses Melissa Hardin, Rachel Bocook, Jeremy Cochenour; two special great-nephews and great-nieces and his church family.   1. So sorry to hear this, prayers for everyone in the family and friends! I have fond memories of my cousin, we were close when we were kids. I remember us sitting in front of the fireplace playing at grandma and grandpa’s. Those were the best days! My mother was Lizzie Ferguson Jonas.

  2. Sorry to hear. I grew up less than a mile from Fred & Marion. Me, Fred, and Freddie would play board games all the time. My favorite was Risk. I was best friends with Freddie all the way up till we lost him. Fred got me started going to church.
