Robin Anthony Stewart,69, of Huntington, WV. passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022 at his residence. Tony was born November 14, 1952 in Catlettsburg, Ky. A son of the late John C. and Virginia Mae Cumpston Stewart. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers Willie Dan Stewart, Sherman Lee Stewart, John Harrison Stewart and Thomas Erwin Stewart; two sisters Vicki Inez Williams and Mary Ann Hockley one son Robin Anthony “Bud” Stewart, Jr. He is survived by three daughters Pennie Rae Stewart, Paige Renee Stewart, Alyssa Dawn Farley; significant other Eva Farley; five grandchildren Jessica Peterman, Erika Peterman, Chase Pelfrey, Jarred McKnight and Brittany Peterman and eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. He is also survived by a brother Barry Wayne Stewart and two sisters Edna Ruth Clere and Eva May Williams. Tony also leaves behind two good friends Ronnie Hodge and Jackie Kinser. Donna Jean Staley Spry May

Donna Jean Staley Spry May, of Kenova, W.Va. passed away Monday, July 18, 2022 she was a beloved mother, grandmother, friend and child of God. She was a daughter of the late Raymond McKeand and Herma June Meredith Staley. Donna Jean graduated from Buffalo High School. She was active in Wayne County politics and served as the Democratic Committee Woman for 28 years. In addition, she represented seniors on the Wayne County Community Service Organization Inc. Board of Directors for ten years and during her tenure on the board represented Wayne County serving on the Metro Area Agency on Aging’s Advisory Board. Donna Jean also served two terms as a member of the Silver Haired Legislature. She was honored by Wayne County Democrats as Democrat of the Year. While she enjoyed being involved in democratic politics for Wayne County, she also loved her God and was an active member of the England Hill Freewill Baptist Church and her community. Donna Jean along with her daughter, Herma Lynn Davis opened the Girlfriends and Sister Chics Gift Shop in Lavalette where she enjoyed meeting the customers and helping out. Donna Jean never knew a stranger, she loved on everyone she met and knew, she loved and cared a lot in her time. In fact, Governor Earl Ray Tomblin recognized her for all of her hard work and dedication to the citizens of Wayne County. Donna Jean also loved living in the country and she owned and showed, show horses, raised cattle, loved the outdoors and being on the farm. She was preceded in death by first husband and father of her children, Warnie Spry; her second husband, Ralph May; her precious son, Terry Ray (Topper) Spry; her grandson, Ryan Spry and her brother, Barry Staley. She is survived by her loving children, Warren (Bossy) Spry and his wife, Barbie; her daughter, Herma Lynn Davis and her husband Bill with whom she made her home; a daughter-in-law, Ellen Spry; grandchildren, Warren “Flattop” Spry whom she loved and raised like a son and his wife, Maranda; Amber (Danny) Walker, Bryan (Katy) Spry, Paula (Joey) Moore and Ashlee Davis; great grandchildren, Sheyenne, Cole, Madison, Colton, Faith, Rylee, Kate, and Macy; and two special great grandchildren who visited with her every week, Audrey and Jacob, and her precious fur baby, Spikey. Donna Jean lived life to the fullest, spending time on many endeavors she was passionate about especially her family. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022 at England Hill Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Willie May and Pastor Justin May officiating. Brandi Jo Workman

Brandi Jo Workman of Huntington, WV. passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022. Funeral service will be conducted 5:00 P.M. Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova with Pastor Mark Booth officiating. Brandi was born August 4, 1983 in Huntington a daughter of Robin Workman and the late Charles David Workman. She was a generous and adventurous soul who loved her family and enjoyed her time working with Tudor’s Biscuit World. She was a friend to everyone and had a ready laugh. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Harry T. Hart and Billye Jo Lyons; paternal grandparents Charles Workman and Mary Mayo Keesee and the father of her children Erik Pack. In addition to her mother she is survived by five children Isaac Workman, Brooklynn Pack, Erika Pack, Chardae Pack and Olivia Keffer. She is also survived by two sisters Mindi Workman and Lori Workman and a brother Nicholas Workman; nephews Daevon, Elijah and Silas Workman; maternal grandmother Helen J. Beulah F. (Hayton) Oney

We are sad to announce that on July 1, 2022 we had to say goodbye to Beulah F. (Hayton) Oney of Raceland, Kentucky. Beulah loved her family, enjoyed spending time with her friends, attending church and being an independent person. She took pride in her home, the way she dressed and her appearance. Her family is very proud of how she lived her life and was always there for them.

She predeceased by her husband Leo Oney from Raceland, Kentucky; her parents Ezra an Victoria Hayton; her brothers Mack and William Hayton; sisters Roberta Hayton, Ida Belle Weatherall, Bertha Skeens and Clara Hayton from West Virginia and her sisters Sadie Mullet and Pauline Rodgers from Ohio. She is survived by: her sister and brother-in-law Joanne and Buford Smith, sister-in-law Glenda Ball and sister Bonnie Ekers; her daughter Beverly and her sons Timothy and Charles. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Vickie Lynn Wolfe Shannon

Vickie Lynn Wolfe Shannon, 73, of Kenova, WV. passed away peacefully in Cabell Huntington Hospital, Monday, July 4, 2022 with her family by her side. Memorial service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova with Bro. John Fry officiating. Vickie loved baking and cooking and she loved her family unconditionally. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Frances Jones Wolfe, her beloved dog Annie and Butchie Crabtree. She leaves behind her husband Virgil Dick Shannon, son Kenny Ray Caldwell (Carman), daughter Johnetta Caldwell (Keith); four grandchildren Justin Gibson (Alychia), Carlie Blanklenship (Wes) and Payton and Emma Caldwell; five great-grandchildren Levi and Claire Blankenship and Patience, Ella and Cooper Gibson and siblings Steve and Jetta Wolfe and Faye Powell (Tim). Plura Jane McClanahan

Plura Jane McClanahan, age 66, went to be with the Lord June 30, 2022.  She is the daughter of the late Gene and Emma Jean Black with whom she celebrates today in Heaven.  She was preceded in death by a brother Robert Michael Black.  Remaining is a brother Richard Black and wife Lisa, and her sister and BFF Rebecca (Becky) Davis and husband Randy Davis.  She is blessed with many nieces, nephews and cousins who will love and cherish her forever, especially Kelly, Charlie, Sarah and Zack.

Jane has been married to Charles Timothy McClanahan for 45 years, a marriage that has grown and prospered into a blessed union that will never be severed by time or space.  It has been a joy observing their love; never has a spouse been more attentive, more caring than Tim, especially in time of her need.

Jane graduated from Vinson High School in 1973, after which she was employed by Tradewell Supermarket and West Virginia Electric, before going to work for her father at Gene’s Automotive Service, where she worked until they both retired.

Jane is a remarkable woman.  Her talents have included cooking, baking, party planning, and especially, showering her love to family and friends in so many ways.

Jane is blessed with many young nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who know her as TT (short for Auntie).  Jane (TT), along with Amazon.com, has been a source of joy and fun over the years for these beautiful children.

Dorothy Catherine Sparks Bradley

Dorothy Catherine Sparks Bradley, 101, of Kenova, WV. passed away Monday, June 27, 2022 at her daughter’s residence surrounded by family. Dorothy was born June 23, 1921 in Van Lear, Ky. a daughter of the late Olma Blossom and Sarah Hattie Castle Sparks. She moved to Kenova in the mid-1950s where she worked at Griffith and Feil Drug Store and retired in 1986 after many years of service. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Kenova where she taught Sunday school for 20 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, W.T. Bradley, Jr.; siblings Olma Demra Sparks, MD, Leslie Howard Sparks, Richard Elwood Sparks, Anna Laurie Sparks Colvin and Virginia Sue Sparks Estep; daughter-in-law Anne Elizabeth Bradley and Charles David Pelfrey. Survivors include her sister Darlene Sparks Preston; children Dorothy Catherine Bradley Carver and William Thomas Bradley, III; grandchildren Jeri Carver (Bennie) Webb, James Bradley (Sarah) Carver, W.T. Bradley, IV and Joshua Glen (Courtney) Bradley; 9 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a special friend Mary Campbell and grandpup and constant companion Miss Scarlett. Special thanks to Dr. Abdelgaber and his staff, the Right at Home staff and other special caretakers for the wonderful care she received. Peggy Sue Wellman, 83, of Huntington, WV died peacefully at her residence on Thursday, June 23, 2022. Peggy was born on November 17, 1938 in Prichard, WV to the late Moody and Dora Lykins. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lace Wellman, and her sisters Lois Jones and Ethel Michael. She is survived by her children: Diane Wellman, Mark (Joy) Wellman, and Tammy (Greg) Napier; four granddaughters: Lacey (Sauleh) Johnson, Rachel Wellman, Jill Napier, and Kendall Napier; four sisters: Judy Fields, Georgia Smith, Marie Lycans, Jean Jones; one brother: Richard “Buck” Lykins; a host of nieces and nephews, and her long-time companion, Larry McCoy. Jimmie O’Dell Sites

Jimmie O’Dell Sites, 79, of Huntington, WV, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on June 16, 2022. Jimmie was an Army National Guard Veteran, retiree from ACF where he worked for 33 years, and a member at Grace Christian Fellowship. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sherry, his sister Shirley, and his parents, Ambers and Ethel. Survivors are his son James Sites (Bre); daughters Janina (Shelly) Sites and Sabrina (Roger) Irons, and one grandson, Ryan Irons. Jimmie was known for his sweet, caring nature as well as his faith in Jesus Christ. A Celebration of Life service will be at Grace Christian Fellowship at 530 Roby Road in Huntington on Tuesday, June 21st at 6:00pm, graveside service will be held at a later date. The family asks that if you were blessed to have known Jimmie, please carry forward his love and compassionate nature toward everyone as he did.

Alice Burton Dorsey

Alice Burton Dorsey, 77, of Kenova, left this life for her heavenly home on June 14, 2022, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. A celebration of life service will be conducted 7:00 P.M. Monday, June 20, 2022 at Rollins Funeral Home with Eulogist JD Billups officiating. Born on April 16, 1945 in Washington, D.C., Alice was the widow of Charles “Curtie” Dorsey and the daughter of the late Kenneth B. Smith and Madeline Hecht Smith of Silver Spring, MD. Alice leaves behind three daughters, Teresa and Edmond Stephens of Wayne, WV; Tammie and Darren Perdue of Abu Dhabi, UAE; and Valerie Holland, with whom she resided. Alice had two grandchildren who were the lights of her life: Caroline Grace Perdue of Columbia, SC and Charles “Casey” Perdue of Seattle, WA. Alice is survived by extended family members and friends. Alice retired from Corbin Ltd. in 2004, where she worked for over 30 years in accounting. Before Alice’s debilitating stroke in 2009, she was a very active member at First Baptist Church of Ceredo.
