Jack “Jackie” Bocook

It is with immense sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of Jack “Jackie” Bocook’s passing on November 25, 2024, at the age of 62.  Jackie was born on January 31, 1962, in Huntington, WV.

He is survived by his children, Matthew Hare (Krystle) of Morganton, NC and Joshua Hare (Tandi) of Morganton, NC; his grandchildren, Colby Hare, Molly Hare, Gavin Hare, Garret Hare, Trevor Hare, and Adalynn Hare; his mother, Donna Garren of Arden; his stepmother, Marlene Bocook of Huntington; and his siblings, Larry Billups of Huntington, Angela Ward (Buck) of Kenova, James Bocook of Arden, Misty Maynard (Clint) of Huntington, and Christy Weekley (Mark) of Arden; step sisters Lisa Patrick(Donnie) Ashland KY, Lory Scarberry (Butch) Ashland KY, and step brother Michael Conn Ashland KY.  Jackie also leaves behind a large extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews. and cousins.  He was proceeded in death by his father, Jack Bocook; stepfather, George E. Garren; and Grandparents Edward and Ruth Bocook, and James and Rosetta Billups.

Jackie was known for his giving heart.  He loved deeply and unconditionally – whether it was his family, friends, or even random strangers he encountered.  He had a special fondness for his daily walks to Sheetz or Wendy’s in the west end of Huntington, where he would stop for coffee.  His kindness, his spirit, and his love will live on, even though he is no longer with us in person.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM with the funeral to follow at 1:00 PM at Rollins Funeral Home, Kenova.  Flowers are welcome, but the family kindly encourages donations to Rollins Funeral Home to assist with burial expenses.
