Jack R. Streets, Sr. of Ashland, KY, formerly of Kenova, WV, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Cabell Huntington Hospital from complications due to ALS. Jack was 82 years old.  Family will welcome visitors on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Kenova United Methodist Church, 503 15th Street, Kenova, WV.  A funeral service will follow, officiated by Pastor Andrew Tennant, with internment at the Gearhart-Martin Cemetery, Cannonsburg, KY.  Following internment, the church will host a bereavement dinner in the gathering space.

Jack was born in Kenova, WV, to the late Sally Frances (Ball) Streets and the late James Edward Streets, on February 27, 1942.  Jack joined his beloved sister Virginia (Jenny) Streets Fletcher to complete the family of four.  Jack spent many happy years with his late sister and their parents at their home in Lakeview Heights, Ceredo, WV, where he was part of a loving community of neighbors which were like an extended family.  Jack graduated from Buffalo (Wayne) High School where he played football and basketball, as well as playing in the marching band as the bass drummer.  Jack’s first love was football at which he lettered and started many games.

After meeting his beloved wife, Sally Gearhart Streets, at the Bluegrass Drive-In in Ashland, KY, in 1963, Jack and Sally married on March 19, 1964, in Ashland, KY.  Jack and Sally set up housekeeping in Ceredo, WV.  Four years later, the couple moved into their home in Pine Hill Estates, Kenova, WV, where they raised their family.  In 1968, Jack and Sally welcomed their first child, Lori Streets Muldoon.  A second daughter, Juli Streets Hutchinson, followed in 1969.  However, the family would not be complete until the arrival of a son, Jack R. Streets, Jr., in 1985. Jack lovingly welcomed his son-in-law Michael Hutchinson in 1994, son-in-law Jim Muldoon in 2002, and daughter in-law Elizabeth in 2008.  Jack worked at Huntington Alloys/International Nickel for 32 years where enjoyed the friendship of many beloved co-workers.

Jack is survived by his devoted wife of over 60 years, Sally Gearhart Streets, his three children, Lori (Jim) Muldoon, Juli (Michael) Hutchinson, Jack (Elizabeth) Streets, and five grandchildren including Pax Hutchinson and wife Sydney Hutchinson, who reside in Circleville, OH, Juli Catherine Muldoon a Junior at Syracuse University, Alexandra Muldoon at Senior at George Washington High School in Charleston, WV, Jackson Streets age 7, and Madeline Streets age 6.  Jack’s greatest joy was his family.  He never tired of attending every school function, sporting event, dance recital, and theater performance.

Jack was a natural athlete and enjoyed playing golf, water sports, bowling, and watching college football and basketball.  He avidly followed Marshall University sports and the Cincinnati Reds, attending as many games as time allowed.  Jack spent many weeks in Central Florida with his parents, sister, aunts, uncles, and cousins as a youth.  Later in life, Jack helped his family foster a life-long love of the rivers, lakes, and coast of Central Florida.  Jack also introduced his children to the beauty of WV spending time in our State Parks camping, hiking, and exploring the New River Gorge.  Jack loved to travel and was always ready to experience new places including trips abroad.

The family wishes to thank the nursing staff of SICU and MICU at Cabell Huntington for their loving care, as well as Jared S. Hollinger, MD, ABPN, and the staff of the Mashall University ALS Clinic.  Additionally, the family wishes to thank Patti Rollins and Skylar Ratcliff, Rollins Funeral Home, for their assistance with funeral arrangements, and the congregants and staff of Kenova United Methodist Church.  Finally, the family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support from our extended family, treasured friends, and neighbors.  Jack’s greatest gift to us is his legacy of kindness, inclusion, and love.  Those left to mourn his loss are grateful for his example of a life well lived.  We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

  1. Jack, Elizabeth and all family:
I just learned of your father’s passing. My heart aches for you as losing a parent at any age is so very hard. I pray you find comfort in remembering the years you had with him. May you find comfort and through God’s grace. Prayers and love.
