Laura Suzette Stevens, 77 years old, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on September 8, 2024. She was born on May 10, 1947, one of four children to Aveanell Ruth (Meredith) Hodge and the late Luther Hodge Jr. Suzette was a graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School in 1965 and retired after many years of federal service from the Social Security Administration in 2002. Suzette was faithful and devoted to her church, Sunshine Freewill Baptist. She would lovingly share the love of Jesus and the gift of salvation with anyone she encountered. Our mother was a true angel here on this earth. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George Russell (Rusty) Stevens on October 15, 2023. She was the greatest wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend you will ever know. She will be so sadly and fondly missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, selflessness, compassion, beauty, and strength. Suzette is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly (Stevens) and Lee Ball, and Rhonda (Stevens) and Mike Moore. Grandchildren and great grandchildren, Brittany (McDonald) and Andy Slayton, Layden and Ryder Lee Slayton, Peyton Griffith, and Izzy Moore. In addition to her children and grandchildren she is survived by her loving mother Aveanell Ruth (Meredith) Hodge (96), and two wonderful sisters and brother-in-law Sandra Workman (Greg), and Sheila and James Copley. She was preceded in death by her sister Sharon Ball. Suzette has many nieces and nephews whom she loved tremendously, who loved her and will miss her dearly. While she lives in her new heavenly body, her earthly body will be cremated. There will be a memorial service to rejoice in her memory at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, WV on September 17, 2024 with fellowship from 5pm to 6pm and memorial service beginning at 6pm with Pastor Jody Fortner of Sunshine Freewill Baptist Church speaking. Rollins Funeral Home will be assisting the family.
