JoAnn Smith Langdon,83, of Kenova, W.Va. passed away March 4, 2020 at Cabell Health Care in Culloden.  Funeral service will be conducted 12:00 P.M. Friday, March 6, 2020 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. She was born July 22, 1936 in Kenova, W.Va. a daughter of the late Charlie B. and Leta Wood Smith. JoAnn was a former manager and cook at the former Albert’s Restaurant in Kenova. She was a member of the Hyland Heights Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jimmy Russell Langdon; five sisters and one brother. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Katy Jo Smith (Jerry David); one niece and her husband Rebecca Williamson Carver (Keith); one nephew Charles Franklin Dishman; two great-nephews Eric and Spencer Carver and two special friends Jenny Willis Erwin and Helen Bocook. Adkins, Jerry R

Jerry Ray Adkins,76, of Huntington, W.Va. passed away March 2, 2020 at Community Hospice of Ashland, Ky. He was born December 20, 1943 in Huntington W.Va. a son of the late Helen Kyle & Charles Adkins, he was preceded in death by one brother Charlie Adkins. He is survived by his wife of 21 years Teresa, I daughter Crystal Gravely, 2 sons Jerry Adkins, Kermit Adkins, 2 sisters Betty (Terry) Sands, Cathy Galligher, 7 brothers John (Patty) France, Pete (Vonnie) France, Bobby (Vicky) Hamlin, Jerry Hamlin, Gary Gene (Joyce) France and Ben France. He is also survived by 8 grandkids, 10 great-grandkids, 2 step daughters Glenda Hughes, Brenda Gardner, 1 stepson Dustin Shortt, one very special friend Bill Fields and his 4 legged buddy Smokey. Jerry was a Purple Heart recipient having served in Vietnam and he was a retired carpenter and refuse owner. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. He now rest high on that mountain. Bean, Hattie V.

Hattie V. Bean, 99, of Prichard, W.Va. passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wayne, W.Va. Hattie was born May 8, 1920 in Wayne County a daughter of the late, Henry and Nellie Frasher Bean. She had worked as an inspector for Barefoot Sole. In addition to her parents she was preceded by two sisters, Dorothy Hooser and Bernice Bean Maynard and three brothers, John Bean, Harold Bean and Billy Bean. She is survived by one sister, Eva Bean of Prichard and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2020 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. Funeral services will begin immediately following visitation at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Scott Byard officiating. Burial will follow in Bean Cemetery in Prichard. Layman, Edwin L

Edwin Lee Layman, 61, of Kenova, W.Va. husband of the late Kim McCormick Layman, died Friday, February 14, 2020 at CMAC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, W.Va. Ed was born May 24, 1958 in Clarksburg, W.Va. a son of the late, Ron and Ruth Merryman Layman. He retired from the State of West Virginia Department of Highways where he worked as a traffic engineer. Ed was past president of the C-K Autumnfest for the last ten years. He was on the Wayne County Fair Board and was a member of the City of Kenova Park Board.  Ed was a musician playing music for over 40 years. He is survived by two sons, Robert Edwin (Danielle) Layman and David Bruce Layman; his grandchildren, Bryce, David, Brandy, and Dylan Layman, Kyla Korzun and Jenna. LeMaster, Nell

Nell LeMaster, 89, of Kenova, W.Va. passed away at her home February 12, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Jack Hardin and Ethel Miller Hardin. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” LeMaster; a son, Michael Everman, and two sisters and their husbands, Grace (Gene) McKenzie and Frances (Jack) Short. She is survived by her three children, Cherri LeMaster, Lisa LeMaster Swimm, and Fred LeMaster; two daughters-in-law, Debbie LeMaster and Beverely Everman; two granddaughters, Melissa (Brandon) Brown and Amanda LeMaster; one grandson, Rick LeMaster; a great granddaughter, Bailey Brown; one brother, Charles (Betty) Hardin and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She also loved her two “adopted sons” Larry Bailey and Ron Weschler. She loved several people that made her care at home easier, Dr. Cynthia Pinson, Beka Copley, Chase McFann, Lilly Price, Erin Anderson, Jeremy Block, Denise Mayes and Cathy Curtis. Nell was a stay at home mom that also took care of many children including working in the nursery at First Baptist Church of Kenova for 30+ years. She loved her “children” many whom still call her Mamaw to this day. She was a humble, loving, and kind person that will be deeply missed. Visitation will be from noon to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. Funeral services will be immediately following the visitation at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Rob Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Docks Creek Cemetery. Mayo-Smith, Polly J

PollyMayoSmithOn February 7th, 2020, POLLY JANE MAYO SMITH passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Polly was a devoted mother and grandmother. She worked hard throughout her life to bring joy to everyone she met. She was a member of Huntington Christian Church. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones and friends. She was born September 30, 1946 in Kenova. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Wesley Smith; her father, Othel Franklin Mayo; mother, Cleo Mayo; two brothers, George Othel “Doodle” Mayo (Dottie) and Jerry Roger Mayo (Gladys). Those left to cherish her memory are sons: Jerry Smith (Kathy), Gregory Smith (Stephanie), Colin Jeffrey Smith, and Christopher Smith (Kerri) and sister, Patty Lewis (Rodney); grandchildren: Jason Smith (Rebecca), Amanda Ferguson, Jennifer Smith, Colin Wesley Smith, Thomas Smith (Kayla), Zachary Smith (Sarah), Mary Smith, Brandy Smith, Olivia Smith, and Clay Smith; great-grandchildren: Taylor Dixon, Mackenzie Smith, and Abigail Ferguson, and Justin Hopkins, who she loved like a son, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. A private viewing for family will occur before a public graveside service on Monday, February 10th at 1 p.m. at Docks Creek Cemetery. Pastor Scott Byard will officiate the service. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses of 2 South of Cabell Huntington Hospital, who provided excellent care during her last days and to all who cared for her during her illness.

Linda Carol Cooney, 57, of Kenova, WV passed away February 2, 2020 at her home. She was born October 23, 1962 in Huntington, WV a daughter of the late John William and Naomi Farmer Cooney. Linda was a U.S. Army veteran. She enjoyed flowers and working in her garden, liked to cook and she loved her kids. She is survived by her daughter Paxton (Andrew) Todd, Nesconset, NY; her son, Carson O’Bryan, Kenova, WV and two sisters, Beth (Beau) Smith, Ceredo, WV and Jane (Rich) Jarosinski, Pittsburgh, PA. Visitation will be from noon to 2:00 on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Adam Goodwin officiating. Ferguson-Sullivan, Janet G

JANET G. FERGUSON SULLIVAN, 78, of Lavalette, W.Va., gained her heavenly wings and went to be with her Lord and family on February 5, 2020. She was born September 5, 1941, in Wayne County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles and Marie Bradshaw Ferguson. Janet retired from the Wayne County Board of Education where she had worked as a teachers aide. In addition to her parents Janet was preceded in death by her sister Betty Parrish; brother Robert (Bob) Ferguson and brother-in-law Bert P. Bays. Survivors include her husband Tom (Joe) Sullivan; her sons Anthony (Tony) Fink and Michael Fink; step-son Thomas Sullivan; brothers Jack Ferguson (Ernestine), Larry Ferguson (Carolyn); her sister Carol Bays and sister-in-law Erma Mathis. Also surviving are grandchildren Chad Fink and Mindy Fink; great-grandchildren Keaton Dotson and Millie Gilkerson and other family and special friends. Janet enjoyed cooking and she loved to bake. She also was a good housekeeper and loved her family. The family would like to thank Hospice of Huntington for their wonderful care of Janet. Phyllis Tomblin, 86, of Kenova passed away Friday, January 17, 2020 in Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley Ironton, OH. Graveside service was held Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at the Greasy Ridge Cemetery in Dunlow, WV. with Rev. Scott Byard officiating. She was born June 26, 1933 the daughter of the late Tom and Eva (Workman) Manns. She was preceded in death by her husband Lacy Tomblin, brothers Dallas, Arnold, Billy, Ollie, OJ and Ralph Manns and sisters Violet Workman and Ada Manns.  She retired from Wilson Construction Company. She is survived by her son Albert “Tom” Tomblin (Shelia), her grandchildren Chris Tomblin (Cara), Stephanie Tomblin-Bell (Greg) and Jessica Frye (Shannon). Her great-grandchildren Nicholas Tomblin, Mia Tomblin and Hunter Frye. Son Boyd Tomblin, siblings Clovis Manns, Jean Vance, Sarah Salyers and sisters-in-law Gladys Kinser and Altha Manns and several nieces and nephews. Crystal Shannon Staley, 61, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2020 at King’s Daughter’s Medical Center. She was born October 20, 1958 a daughter of the late Clarence and Alela Finley Hogan.
