Phyllis Tomblin, 86, of Kenova passed away Friday, January 17, 2020 in Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley Ironton, OH. Graveside service was held Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at the Greasy Ridge Cemetery in Dunlow, WV. with Rev. Scott Byard officiating. She was born June 26, 1933 the daughter of the late Tom and Eva (Workman) Manns. She was preceded in death by her husband Lacy Tomblin, brothers Dallas, Arnold, Billy, Ollie, OJ and Ralph Manns and sisters Violet Workman and Ada Manns. She retired from Wilson Construction Company. She is survived by her son Albert “Tom” Tomblin (Shelia), her grandchildren Chris Tomblin (Cara), Stephanie Tomblin-Bell (Greg) and Jessica Frye (Shannon). Her great-grandchildren Nicholas Tomblin, Mia Tomblin and Hunter Frye. Son Boyd Tomblin, siblings Clovis Manns, Jean Vance, Sarah Salyers and sisters-in-law Gladys Kinser and Altha Manns and several nieces and nephews. Crystal Shannon Staley, 61, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2020 at King’s Daughter’s Medical Center. She was born October 20, 1958 a daughter of the late Clarence and Alela Finley Hogan. Jarrell, William J
WILLIAM JENNINGS JARRELL, 87, known by his friends and family as “Tiny,” “Grandpa” and “Pappaw,” went to his heavenly home on January 18, 2020. He was greeted by his parents, Jennings “Fats” and Ada Belle Jarrell and his granddaughter and her husband Jennifer and Brian Reid. He leaves behind his “princess” and loving wife, Phyllis Jarrell; his children, Kathy Spence (Steve), Greg Jarrell (Joy), Amy Robinson (John Church) and Jeffrey Rowe (Debbie); his grandchildren, Cara Dials (Kevin), Katie Rowe, Katherine Grace Rowe and Anna Jarrell, and his great-grandsons, Connor and Keegan Dials. Jennings not only had a great love for his family but the C-K community and most importantly God. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. Colossians 3:23 He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Ceredo. He did a great deal of work for them and several other local churches. His years of being an Eagle Scout helped to prepare him for the hard worker he was. Never did he do anything halfway. “Tiny” was a faithful Ashland Oil employee with 37 years of service. He also served the WONDER-ful community of C-K in many ways. He was the third Fire Chief of Ceredo, his father was the first. He was the electrical inspector for the City of Ceredo and in later years, the City of Kenova. He was a Master Mason and acquired a 32nd degree. One of his greatest loves was music and being a member of the Ceredo-Kenova Alumni Band. They have honored him several times by playing his favorite song, The Battle Hymn of the Republic. The family wants to say a thank you to Hospice of Huntington and two devoted caregivers, Nurse Darcy and Trish. Thanks to his loyal friend, Bill Stambaugh, thanks for always being there when it was most needed. Thank you to all of the neighbors and two special friends who have kept us close in prayer. JoAnn Parsley Webb,78, of Huntington, W.Va. passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020. Funeral service will be conducted 3:00 P.M. JoAnn was born April 5, 1941 in Kenova a daughter of the late Wayne and Myrtle Parsley. She was a former customer service representative with Lowes. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers Raymond Parsley and Thomas Messer. She is survived by five children Ray Webb (Mary), Tony Webb (Sandy), Kim Webb Bourdelais, Brian Webb (Rebecca) and Rhonda Boggs (Todd); eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; five sisters Diane, Rose, Ledema, Judy and Carol; a very special sister Betti Messer Dancy and two brothers Curtis and Billy. Donald Elkins, 80, of Kenova, W.Va. went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at his residence. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova with Pastor Jim Richards officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Don was born April 19, 1939 in Logan Co. W.Va. a son of the late Marvel and Bernice Browning Elkins. He was a retired diesel mechanic from Hamer Lumber Company and he also worked for the Creasey Company, Super Value and Early Construction. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Kenova #110 AF & AM whose members will conduct graveside rites. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife Eldia Bowen Elkins; one son Donald Thomas Elkins; one daughter Patricia Lynn Napier and two sisters Brenda Shirley and Mickey Carter. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law Richard Elkins (Stephanie); one sister and brother-in-law Mary Harmon (Jim); six grandchildren Ryan Elkins (Andrea), Tara Elkins, Patrick Napier (Cydney), Anthony Napier, Brittany Woods (Tammy) and Nicholas Elkins (Allie). He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren Payton, Kane, Aniston, Sydney, Sawyer, Bryce, Madison, Barrett and Berkley and several nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends. Pamela Lee (Dishman) Renne, 65, of Kenova, WV passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital on December 28, 2019. She was born March 12, 1954 a daughter of the late Sherman Lee Dishman and Gloria Jean May. She was a member of the First Independent Missionary Baptist Church in Kenova, WV. Pam was proceeded in death also by her brothers Bub (Gary) Dishman and Charles (Sparky) Dishman. Pam is loved dearly and mourned by her surviving children Ashley Salyers (Nick) and Joshua Caldwell (Julie) and sisters Debbie Sparks (Bennie) and Teresa Pell. Pam is also survived by grandchildren Morgan Hush, Isabella Salyers, Payton Caldwell, Elle Caldwell, and Coleson Caldwell along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Pam was well known for her quick wit and her fierce love for those dear to her and will be cherished forever in our hearts. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 P.M. She was born April 16, 1953 in Kenova, W.Va. a daughter of Betty Thacker Heck and the late Bill R. Heck. She was a member of the First Independent Missionary Baptist Church and former secretary for Dr. Jose Ricard. In addition to her father she was also preceded in death by a brother Gregory A. Heck and a grandchild Lilly Shea Watts.
