Paul Samuel Tomblin, 75, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on July 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on February 4, 1951, to Andrew and Annalee (Smith) Tomblin, Paul lived a life marked by unwavering faith, quiet wisdom, deep love for others, and a remarkable curiosity about the world around him.
On May 15 of this year, Paul and the love of his life, Wanda (Webb) Tomblin, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary surrounded by family—a milestone reflecting a marriage built on love, laughter, and steadfast devotion. Though Paul was known for his quick wit, Wanda always met him with humor and banter of her own, making them a perfect match.
Paul was a devoted father to his daughter, Sara (Tomblin) Swann and her husband, Justin, and to his son, Randall Tomblin and his wife, Shelbi (Lamothe) Tomblin. He also deeply loved the family he gained through his marriage, especially his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Amy Webb, along with his brothers- and sisters-in-law. Nothing brought him greater joy than his family, and he treasured his granddaughters, Ryleigh and Reagan Swann.
A 1969 graduate of Buffalo High School in Wayne, West Virginia, Paul graduated from UEI College in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1971. He dedicated 36 years to Braskem’s Neal Plant, where his extensive mechanical and electrical expertise earned him the respect of coworkers throughout his career. Even after retirement, colleagues continued to seek his counsel, valuing both his knowledge and leadership. He cared deeply for those he worked alongside and loved sharing stories about them long after his career had ended.
Paul possessed a sharp intellect and an endless desire to learn. Whenever a song captured his attention, he wanted to know everything about it—the artist, the musicians, and the history behind its creation—and delighted in sharing those discoveries with family and friends. His love of music became one of the many gifts he passed on to his children.
He also had an extraordinary gift for finding joy in ordinary moments. He often paused to admire the beauty of creation, saying, “What a beautiful day God has made for us,” or wondering aloud, “How can people look at this and not believe in God?” His faith was woven into the way he viewed the world every day.
Paul loved people and believed that their stories mattered. He had a remarkable ability to keep those stories alive, recounting them with warmth, humor, and affection. Whether telling a favorite family story or inventing an impromptu jingle about everyday life, he found countless ways to bring joy to others.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Wanda; his daughter, Sara (Justin) Swann; his son, Randall (Shelbi) Tomblin; his granddaughters, Ryleigh and Reagan Swann; his sister, Fanny (Overby) Hicks; and his brother, Leonard Tomblin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Annalee Tomblin; his brothers, Dewey, Andy, Jessie, and Wandalie Tomblin; and his sisters, Marie Ratliff, Blanche Tomblin, and Connie Faye Scheneberg.
Paul’s greatest legacy is not found in the years he worked, the knowledge he accumulated, or even the stories he told. It is found in the faith he lived, the family he cherished, the kindness he extended, and the countless lives made richer because he was part of them. Though his voice has grown quiet here, the stories he told, the songs he loved, the laughter he created, and the faith he embodied will continue to echo through the generations who were blessed to know him.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
