Rakes, Ronald T

Ronald Ted Rakes,86, of Kenova, W.Va., went to be with his Savior Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M., Monday, March 8, 2021 at Kenova United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Richards and Pastor Scott Byard officiating. Interment with masonic rites will be conducted at Dock’s Creek Cemetery. Ted was born January 30, 1935 in Huntington a son of the late Pete and Virginia Wilson Rakes. Ted spent many terms as a councilman for the City of Kenova and was a tireless worker devoted to the best interests of the city. He was a volunteer for many years at Cabell Huntington Hospital providing words of encouragement, humor and prayers to those in need. Ted had an Insurance and Income Tax business in Kenova for several years. He was a devoted member of the Kenova United Methodist Church and devoted brother in the Kenova Masonic Lodge #110 AF & AM where he was the lodge secretary. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years Betty Lorine Barry Rakes; son Jeff Rakes; brothers Willie, Ray and Elza Rakes and son-in-law Terry Methax. Survivors include his children Debbie Rakes Methax and Scott Rakes (Tonya); four grandchildren Jimmy Methax (Lisa), Jamey Methax Holt, Zachery Rakes and Isaac Rakes; great-grandchildren Bailey Swanson, Mackenzie Methax, Joshua Methax; daughter-in-law Stacie Rakes; several nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends. Ted leaves behind several cherished friends, especially his best friend Jim West. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 8, 2021 at the church.   1. The Rakes Family have been our neighbors for 58 years! We will sorely miss Ted, as we have missed his other family members!We know Ted is happily reunited with them again!   2. Ted and I were friends from 1943 when we moved to Kenova until his passing. We lived a short distance from each other and were pals with Philip Lambert as well. I was sorry to here of his passing and offer sympathy to the family. Carl Little, Westworth Village, TX.
