Julius Edward Young, 87, of Catlettsburg, KY, passed away Monday, July 29, 2019 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY. He was born February 19, 1932 in Mingo County, WV a son of the late Julius and Alpha New Young. Also preceding him in death were his wife, Gladys Young; a son, Charlie Young; one brother, Charles Young and three sisters, Erma Lou Stephens, Lillian Kelly and Frances Alley. Julius had worked as a lab technician for AK Steel. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Roger (Diane) Young of Ashland; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jeris (Jimmy) Fry of Catlettsburg, Tammy (Michael) Wilson of Kenova and Lisa McFarland of Ashland; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; two special friends, Tim Wechsler and Buddy Russell; two special companions his dogs, Willie and Heidi, and a host of other family members and friends. In keeping with his wishes there will be no public services. Memorial donations may be made to the Boyd County Animal Shelter, 1025 Bob McCullough Drive, Ashland, KY 41102.
