Michael Jay Keith O’Dell, 60, of Prichard, WV passed away on July 18, 2026 at St Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, WV. He was born February 9, 1966 in Detroit, Michigan a son of Joann Kimberling of Ceredo, WV and the late Lawrence (Larry) Harlan O’Dell Jr. Michael was a graduate of Buffalo High School. He joined the US Navy where he served for over 20 years before retiring and then going to work at the Hershel “Woody” Williams VA Medical center where he was still employed as a dispatcher. Michael enjoyed camping and taking care of his home and property. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them and he also loved to irritate his mother-in-law, Ella Mae. Members of the US Navy Funeral Honors Program and American Legion Post 93 Kenova Honor Guard will conduct graveside rites. In addition to his father and grandparents, Jay was also preceded in death by a sister, Shannon O’Dell. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Smith O’Dell; a son, Cory Lewis; a daughter, Cassie Lewis; grandchildren, Chloe Lewis and Lyric Carter; brothers, Larry O’Dell III, Jody O’Dell and Jeff Woodward; special friends, Eddie Wildes and Dwayne Hall; his dog, Pebbles and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be on Thursday July 23, 2026 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm followed by the funeral service with Brother Jerry Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Henry Hatten Cemetery, Prichard, WV. Jay O ‘ Dell my close Friend since 1980 . You and your Brother sure made me laugh!!! I remember the graduation party at your house ! First time I got drunk !! Freshman year you taught me same or difference flipping coins ! I lost $ 50.00 to him in one night at a Buffalo Wayne / C-K home game at Buffalo High school !
