Delbert Akers, Junior, 90, of Prichard, W.Va. passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Byard officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery with the American Legion Post 93 Honor Guard conducting military rites. He was born October 15, 1930 in Ceredo, W.Va. son of the late Delbert Akers, Sr. and the late Ida Pratt Akers. He was a former Clerk with the CSX Railroad. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 93 and the Prichard Volunteer Fire Department. Junior enjoyed working on cars and was a big NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed playing Bingo. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death his wife Rita Akers and two sisters Barbara Sloan and Evelyn Jeffers. Survivors include his fiancé’ Patty Ann Hutchinson; daughter Teresa Ward; son Terry Lee Aker; grandchildren Tonya, Mark, Josh and Robert; great-grandchildren Ashleigh, Logan, Hannah, Alexis and Anthony; great-great grandchildren Kynleigh and Addison. He is also survived by two sisters Betty Stoal and Linda Fouch and two brothers Charlie Akers (Yvonne) and Wallace T. Akers (Priscilla).
