Vida Jeanette (Varney) May

Vida Jeanette (Varney) May of Kenova, W.Va. passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. Vida was a graduate of Belfry High School in Belfry, KY and was born in Sidney, KY to the late Ballard and Myrtle Mae Varney of South Williamson, KY. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Phyllis Ann King of South Williamson, KY and Aletha Pinson of Turkey Creek, KY. Vida is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, Estil; daughter, Sherrie (Terry) Webb of Chattaroy, W.Va.; son, Keith (Summer) May of Winfield, W.Va.; grandsons, Chad Webb of Charleston, W.Va., Tyler May (Megan) of Eleanor, W.Va. and Matthew Wright of Winfield, W.Va.; granddaughters, Haley Manns, (Dustin) of Goldsboro, NC, Madison Bailey (Derek) of Altus, OK, Amy Zacarias of Pikeville, KY, Mary Wright, and Natalie Wright of Winfield, W.Va.; two great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews. Vida was a devoted wife and mother who put her family above all else. She was also a long-time member of the 20th Street Baptist Church of Kenova where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and was the church financial secretary for several years. Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Smith Family Cemetery in Sidney, KY. Nellie Jane Caldwell Ferguson

Nellie Jane Caldwell Ferguson, 90, of Kenova, WV. passed away Monday, August 22, 2022 at her residence. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 26, 2022 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova withPastor Roger Mooney officiating. Nellie was born May 22, 1932 in Kenova a daughter of the late John and Bertha Caldwell. She was a member of the Kellogg Independent Holiness Church of God. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ernest W. Ferguson and sixteen siblings. She is survived by three children Bill Ferguson (Kathi), Pam Crossen and Vicky Mead (James); grandchildren Brian, Amy, Billy, Josh, Jenny, Glenn and Amanda; 21 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to the Kellogg Independent Holiness Church of God 4430 Piedmont Road Huntington, WV. 25704. Sunny N (Niki) Jackson Hackworth

Sunny N (Niki) Jackson Hackworth,  40 of South Point, died August 14 at her home. She was preceded in death by her Grandparents Sonnie and Joyce Maynard,  Ralph and Helen Jackson. She leaves behind her son,  Jace Jackson and the wonderful mother she chose for him Crystal Finley,  parents Tammy Maynard  and James (Lori) Jackson, sisters Jillian (Rachel) Jackson,  Grace Jackson, brother Greg Thompson, Aunts Donna Neville, Debbie Hazlett and Diana Gibson, her sister in love Hannah Collins Castle, Godson Cody Collins as well as a large extended family and host of friends.  There will be no visitation and a private graveside service. We hope our family and friends will join us in a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.  A special thanks to Rollins Funeral Home for their assistance in our time of loss.

Lois Mildred (Bays) Skiles

Lois Mildred (Bays) Skiles of Kenova, WV passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Ashley Glenn Memory Care in Peachtree City (GA).

Lois was raised in Holden, WV by her late parents Denver and Irene Bays of Webbville, KY and was married for 49 years to the late Fred Skiles. She is survived by three children; Tom (Cindy) of Estero, FL, Bonnie of Fayetteville, GA and Steve (Pam) of Grayson, KY; and 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and a brother Darrell Bays (Ponder, TX) and 4 nephews.

Charles E. Akers

Charles E. Akers of Huntington, WV passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022. Charles was born December 8, 1942, a son of the late Delbert and Ida Pratt Akers.

Charles retired from Marathon Petroleum. He was a member of Ceredo United Methodist Church. His family was very important to him especially his beloved wife, his much-loved son and daughter and the lights of his life his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary Viers, a brother, Delbert Jr. and two sisters, Evelyn and Barb.

Charles is survived by his wife, Yvonne Byard Akers; daughter, Kimberly Dawn (Troy) Blankenship; son, Charles E. “Chuck” (Melanie) Akers II; grandsons, Justin (Keisha) Viers, Daniel (Elizabeth) Viers, and Tanner Akers; granddaughter, Anna Akers; two great-grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter; a brother, Tee Akers; sisters, Betty Staal and Linda Fouch. Charles has left behind many good friends and all of his telephone buddies. Visitation will be from 11 to 1 Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Rollins Funeral Home In Kenova. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Scott Byard and Pastor Tom Baisden officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Valley Memory Gardens. Gary Lee Runyon

Gary Lee Runyon of Ceredo, WV passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on Friday, August 12, 2022 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV surrounded by his family. Gary, a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School and Marshall University, was born in Holden, WV to the late Curtis and Kathleen Runyon of Kenova. Gary is survived by his wife and love of his life for over 56 years, Linda; sons, Jeff (Jaime) of Panama City Beach, FL and Matt (Ryan) of McLean, VA; grandson, Cody Runyon of Huntington; sisters, Judy (Gene) Kuykendall of Kenova, Emy (Kelly) White of Salisbury, NC; and brother-in-law, Roger Peppers of Circleville, OH. Gary was an avid lover of golf and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Ceredo. Mary Lou Brock Smith, 62, of Kenova, WV. went to be with her
Lord Thursday, August 11, 2022. Funeral service will be conducted

Kenova with Mr. Roger Brock officiating. Mary was born November
1, 1959 in Kenova a daughter of the late Robert and Geraldine West
Brock. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her
beloved husband John Smith and a brother Robert Brock. She is
survived by her sister Kay Fryer (George); two brothers Roger Brock
(Teresa) and Charles Brock; nieces and nephews Andy (Traci), George
(Carmyn), Willard (Rachel), Robin (Jeremy), Josh (Jessica) and
Charles, Jr.; great-nieces and great-nephews George III, Autumn,
Charlie, Lilly, Charles III, Abigal, Jaxon and Madlyn and a very

Berl Bruce Pack

Berl Bruce Pack, 85, of Ceredo, WV. passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova with Pastor Mark Roach officiating. Bruce was born April 25, 1937 in Wayne a son of the late Frank and Erie Smith Pack. He was a member of the Dock’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver from Marathon Petroleum. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his precious daughter Pamela Renee Pack Osborne; two brothers Merrill Pack and William Pack and a sister Delores Robertson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Judy Akers Pack; a son and daughter-in-law Ronald Pack (Cathy); siblings Loretta Wallace, Lola Mae Finnell, Peggy Wallace, Brenda Pack Maynard, Janice Riley, Bonnie Sue Brown, Marvin Pack, Douglas Pack, Richard Pack and Vera Stiltner. He is also survived by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Roger Akers (Linda); son-in-law Kevin Osborne and two grandchildren Nicholas Allen Osborne and Rebecca Arlene Osborne. Sharon Sue Caudle Dowdy

Sharon Sue Caudle Dowdy, 74, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 22, 2022 in Ashland, Kentucky following a brief illness.

Sharon was born on November 15, 1947 in Ashland, Kentucky to the late Cecil Stafford Caudle and Nina Lucille Kerkeek Caudle.

Sharon was a 1965 graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School and a 1969 graduate of the University of Kentucky.

Sharon was employed at the Social Security Administration, Elmwood Village, Wurtland Nursing and Rehabilitation, Prestera Center and the Ramey-Estep Home, serving as a social worker.

Sharon is survived by her daughters, Susan Adkins (Garry) of Kenova, WV, Shauna Christian (Patrick) of Wheelersburg, OH, Sara Beth Blevins of Greenup, KY, and one beloved granddaughter, Bentlee Dowdy, whom she referred to as her “Sugar Bear.” Also surviving are two nephews, Mark (Angie) Green and Robert Kerkeek Compton, one niece, Missy Compton Allison, one great-niece Angel Pennington, and one great-nephew Solomon Green. She also leaves behind a very special friend, Bill Clinger, of Ashland, KY.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Robert Kerkeek Caudle and one sister, Carol Joyce Green.

A private ceremony for family and close friends will be held on Tuesday, August 2nd from 5-6 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, WV.

Robin Anthony Stewart

Robin Anthony Stewart,69, of Huntington, WV. passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022 at his residence. Tony was born November 14, 1952 in Catlettsburg, Ky. A son of the late John C. and Virginia Mae Cumpston Stewart. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers Willie Dan Stewart, Sherman Lee Stewart, John Harrison Stewart and Thomas Erwin Stewart; two sisters Vicki Inez Williams and Mary Ann Hockley one son Robin Anthony “Bud” Stewart, Jr. He is survived by three daughters Pennie Rae Stewart, Paige Renee Stewart, Alyssa Dawn Farley; significant other Eva Farley; five grandchildren Jessica Peterman, Erika Peterman, Chase Pelfrey, Jarred McKnight and Brittany Peterman and eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. He is also survived by a brother Barry Wayne Stewart and two sisters Edna Ruth Clere and Eva May Williams. Tony also leaves behind two good friends Ronnie Hodge and Jackie Kinser.
