Laura Suzette Stevens, 77 years old, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on September 8, 2024. She was born on May 10, 1947, one of four children to Aveanell Ruth (Meredith) Hodge and the late Luther Hodge Jr. Suzette was a graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School in 1965 and retired after many years of federal service from the Social Security Administration in 2002. Suzette was faithful and devoted to her church, Sunshine Freewill Baptist. She would lovingly share the love of Jesus and the gift of salvation with anyone she encountered. Our mother was a true angel here on this earth. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George Russell (Rusty) Stevens on October 15, 2023. She was the greatest wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend you will ever know. She will be so sadly and fondly missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, selflessness, compassion, beauty, and strength. Suzette is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly (Stevens) and Lee Ball, and Rhonda (Stevens) and Mike Moore. Grandchildren and great grandchildren, Brittany (McDonald) and Andy Slayton, Layden and Ryder Lee Slayton, Peyton Griffith, and Izzy Moore. In addition to her children and grandchildren she is survived by her loving mother Aveanell Ruth (Meredith) Hodge (96), and two wonderful sisters and brother-in-law Sandra Workman (Greg), and Sheila and James Copley. She was preceded in death by her sister Sharon Ball. Suzette has many nieces and nephews whom she loved tremendously, who loved her and will miss her dearly. While she lives in her new heavenly body, her earthly body will be cremated. There will be a memorial service to rejoice in her memory at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, WV on September 17, 2024 with fellowship from 5pm to 6pm and memorial service beginning at 6pm with Pastor Jody Fortner of Sunshine Freewill Baptist Church speaking. Carter Ray Williamson, 67, of Kenova, WV passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at his residence. Funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova with Pastor Mike Manuel and Pastor Donnie Wells officiating. Interment will follow in the Corns Herald Family Cemetery in Crum. Carter was born February 27, 1957 in Logan, WV. a son of James and Mary Herald Williamson of Kenova. Carter was the co-owner of Minuteman press. He was preceded in death by a brother James Williamson. Survivors include his beloved parents James and Mary; one brother and sister-in-law Robert Williamson (Connie); two sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen Adkins (Bobby) and Kathy Crittendon (Benny) and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. Jason E. Deitz, 52, of Cross Lanes, formerly of Kenova, WV passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack, Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals in South Charleston. Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 9, 2024 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova with Pastor Roger Branham officiating. Jason was a proud graduate of C-K High School class of 1990 where he was a standout athlete and was a level 2 NDT Inspector for Marathon Refinery/Mistras Group. He was born September 18, 1971 in Ashland, Ky. son of the late Joyce Ann Deitz. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandfather Charles F. Green Wechsler and beloved bengal cat Marco. Survivors include his beloved wife Debra J. Deitz; step-son Derek Thaxton; beloved grandson Carter Max Thaxton; father-in-law and mother-in-law Harry Gillispie and Wanda Gillispie; grandmother Lou Wechsler; brothers Joshua Deitz (Shelly), Ron Wechsler (Barb), Mike Wechsler (Kelli); sister Angie Barker (Scott); and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Imogene Kay Sexton, 64, of Huntington WV. passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Imogene was born May 25, 1960 in Huntington. She was preceded in death by four siblings. Beverly Ann Billups, 91, of Kenova, WV, passed away on August 29, 2024, at Madison Park Healthcare in Huntington, WV. She was born November 18, 1932, in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Chauncey and Garnet Mae Hager Knight. In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dr. Joseph Elmon Billups, D.D.S., three brothers, William C. Knight, Robert Knight, and James T. Linda Kay Haynie Duty, 74, of Kenova, WV. passed away Monday August 26, 2024 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. Linda was born December 11, 1949 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Arthur Haynie and Doris Chandler Haynie. She is preceded in death by her loving husband William “Russ” Duty. Linda was a homemaker but spent countless hours volunteering at Kenova United Methodist where she was a member and sang in the choir for many years. Linda boasted many accolades throughout the years but was most proud of her national championship win for muzzleloader shooting in 1984. She is survived by a beloved son Christopher Duty, brother Mike Haynie (Jean) sister-in-law Sue Midkiff, brother-in-law Dave Duty, brother-in-law Mark Duty (Lori), adopted son Brian Whittaker, and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Larry Leslie Lloyd,85, of Kenova, WV. passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024 at his residence. Graveside service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 26, 2024 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post #93 whose Honor Guard will administer military graveside rites. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter Badge and Marksman Badge. Larry was born February 10, 1939 in Wayne, WV. a son of the late Burgess and Anna Lee Smith Lloyd. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers Burgess Lloyd, Jr, Ronnie Lloyd, Bert Lloyd and Kenny Lloyd. James Michael “Mike” Lowe,73, of Kenova, WV. passed away Friday, August 23, 2024 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral service will be conducted 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Byard officiating. There will be an Eastern Star service beginning at 6:00 P.M. Burial will take place Thursday morning at 10:00 A.M. at Hillcrest cemetery with Masonic graveside rites. Mike was a proud veteran having served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post #93 whose Honor Guard will administer military graveside rites. He was born January 5, 1951 in Kenova, WV. a son of the late James Harding and Erma Lee Smith Lowe. Mike was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on August 16, 1974 and was a 50 year member of the Buena Vista Masonic Lodge and Huntington No 8, Order of the Eastern Star. He was retired from Whayne Supply and J & L Pumps where he was the owner and operator. He was long time member of the Kenova Volunteer Fire Department including during November of 1970. Mike was married to his beloved wife Jane for 34 years before she passed in 2005. Despite his many health challenges Mike lived longer than his mother by a year and a half, his father by 31 years and his wife by 22 years. His longevity can only be attributed to the decades of care given by his daughter Jamie and friend Theresa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jane Lee Lowe. Survivors include two daughters Marnie L. (David) Graley and Jamie M. Lowe; brother and sister-in-law Pete and Cindy Lowe; special nephew Kenneth Bannon; special granddaughter Destanee Carter; his sidekick fur baby Lucy and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
