Pastor Larry Scott Mullens, 83, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus, Monday April 7, 2025 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. He leaves behind his high school sweetheart and love of his life for 62 years his wife, Helen Skeens Mullens; his son, Scott Alan Mullens and his wife, Carrie; his nieces and nephews and many friends who were saved and nurtured through years of his preaching God’s word. Proceeding him in death were his son, William Aaron Mullens; parents. Dr. Henry Scott and Lillian Mullens; and a brother, Robert Mullens. Larry went to Duke University in Durham, NC and Eastern Baptist Seminary in Philadelphia, PA. Larry pastored churches in West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky and Atlanta, Georgia. He was called to preach the same evening he was saved at 14 years of age and never wavered in God’s call to ministry through high school, college and in his final days at Wayne Continuous Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Lycans, Pastor Paul Daniels and his son, Pastor Scott Mullens officiating. Betty Joyce Browning Lancaster of Huntington passed away on April 6,2025 on her 94th birthday. The daughter of the late Kady Edgar Browning and Willa Joyce Cornwell Browning. She was a 1949 graduate of Buffalo High School and retired from Huntington Cat and Dog Hospital. She was proceeded in death by her husband Samuel H Lancaster (Harry) a son David L Lancaster, 2 grandsons Samuel H Lancaster II and Charles Anthony (Tony) DelPapa, 1 brother Joe Edward Browning. She is survived by her children Vikki Huff whom she lived with, Samuel Harrison Lancaster Jr., Rebecca DelPapa and Sherri Perdue (her baby). 1 sister Kay Miller all from Huntington. Betty had 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren and one on the way. Shannon O’Dell, 53, of Huntington, WV, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the Rockcastle Regional Hospital in Mount Vernon,Ky. Shannon was born June 1, 1971 in Detroit, MI. a daughter of the late Lawrence Harlan O’Dell, Jr. She was a former cashier with Wal-Mart. Roger Arlington Caldwell
Roger Arlington Caldwelll, 86, of Kenova, WV, passed from his earthly home on Saturday, March 29, to join his beloved oldest daughter Rhonda Lynn in their Heavenly home. Born and raised in Kenova, WV, Roger traveled the world through his service in the United States Marine Corp. He dedicated 25 years of his life to working for the City of Kenova and remained a well-known fixture within the local community. He is also preceded in death by his parents Marshall (Mart) Caldwell and Florence (Canteberry) Caldwell; a brother Bernard Caldwell and sisters Wavelle (Belle) Spencer and Marthette Caldwell. Roger is survived by his wife of 65 years, Juanita (Tipton) Caldwell and daughter Sonya (Caldwell) Hall and her husband Stos of Indian Land, SC. He leaves behind five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren: Brandi (McGuire) Browder (Brian) of Eaton, OH, and her children, Parker Arlington Houk, Ryland Matthew Houk and Piper Lee Browder and step-daughter Peyton Elizabeth Browder; Erin Burns of Washington, DC, her husband Dave Keffer and their children Margot Elliot Burns-Keffer and Arthur Leonard Burns-Keffer; Andy Burns of Huntington, WV, his wife Taylor (Yoho) Burns and their children Bennett David Burns and Emma Grace Burns; Lauren Hall of Florence, SC, her husband Jack Thedinga and their children Phoenix Wilder Thedinga and Fallon Rae Thedinga; and Tyler Hall of Orlando, FL. Patricia June York Carper, 81, of Kenova, W.Va. Passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025 at the Woodlands in Huntington. She was born September 18, 1943 in Princeton, W.Va. a daughter of the late Paul Floyd York and Alice Wellman York. She and her husband, Jackson Lee Carper graduated from Princeton High School in 1961. Patricia was a life long homemaker as she raised their three children. She always enjoyed spending time with and caring for her family. They enjoyed camping and Patricia liked to dance. In addition to her parents and husband, and she was preceded in death by a brother, Vaughn York. She is survived by two sons, Jackson L. Carper, Jr., and Jeff Carper and his wife, Robin; one daughter, Jennifer Coffee and her husband, Jamie; a brother, Mike York and his wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Rachel Carper, Amber Carper, LeeAnn Coffee, Abigail Carper, Jessica Coffee and Levi Coffee; and great grandchildren, Gabriella Scarberry, Weston Arms, Isabella Scarberry, Waylon Arms and Luke Scarberry. Charles William “Charlie” Slover
Charles William “Charlie” Slover, 101, passed away on March 15, 2025, in Huntington, West Virginia. Born on February 13, 1924, in Jefferson City, Tennessee. He loved his family and God. His passion was to share his favorite song “Just as I Am.” He was an amazing spiritual witness up to his final days.
Charles proudly served his country in World War II as a Private First Class Medical Tech in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945. He was stationed in France, Belgium, and Germany and was awarded the Bronze Star for his courage and heroic service in military action. Following his military service, Charles worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 30 years. In addition to his spiritual work, Charles found joy in woodworking. David Lee Blevins
David Lee Blevins,77, of Huntington, WV, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025 at his residence. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Tuesday March 18, 2025 at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Graves officiating. Interment will follow in Ceredo Crescent Hill Cemetery. David was born November 26, 1947 in Huntington, WV. a son of Jacqueline Campbell Blevins and the late Harry Bert Blevins. He graduated from Ceredo-Kenova High School in 1965 and shortly after he became a lineman with C&P Telephone. In 1967 he was drafted in the Army having served in the Vietnam War. He received the bronze star in 1968 and was a radio operator for his platoon in the 16thInfantry 1st Division. After being combat-wounded in 1968 he was unable to continue his service in the Army and continued his telecommunications career with Verizon and Fibernet with over 35 years of service. David had lifetime memberships in the VFW and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. His greatest achievement in life was being that of a father, provider, grandfather and loving son. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son John Blevins (Jayne); daughter Christy Parsons (Carlas); grandchildren Luke, Drew, Cole and Weston Blevins, Allen, Eric and Reese Parsons; great-grandchildren Hunter and Easton Parsons; former wife Sandra Lee Blevins and three brothers Dale Blevins (Linda), Don Blevins (Anny) and Brian Blevins. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, Brenda Crabtree. She entered the arms of her Savior on March 12th surrounded by her family. Brenda was born January 25th, 1957; the daughter of the late Walter “Sonny”and Margaret Donald. She devoted her life to serving others with grace, love, and unwavering faith.
As the cherished wife of Pastor Tim Crabtree, Brenda was a constant source of strength and support, embodying the spirit of partnership in ministry. Together, they nurtured a church community, where Brenda’s warmth and compassion touched countless lives. Her heartfelt prayer and encouragement provided comfort to many, making her a beloved figure in the congregation.
Brenda was a proud and loving mother to Timothy Crabtree II and Amanda Wray. She poured her heart into her children, guiding them with love and wisdom, and instilling in them the values of faith and kindness that she exemplified throughout her life. Her laughter, nurturing spirit, and unwavering support were the foundation upon which their lives were built, and her legacy will forever live on in their hearts.
Beyond her role as a pastor’s wife and mother, Brenda was known for her generous spirit and her ability to connect with everyone she encountered. Whether through small acts of kindness or moments of heartfelt conversation, she made everyone feel loved. Her home was a sanctuary filled with joy, laughter, and an open door, where all were welcome.
Brenda’s impact extended far beyond her immediate family. She was a devoted, friend, a compassionate mentor, and a shining example of what it means to live a life for God and others.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, a brother Robert “Bunker” Donald and sister Debbie Blankenship. She is survived by her adoring husband, Tim Crabtree, her beloved children, Timothy Crabtree II, Amanda Wray (Neal), and honorary children Samantha Adkins Lewis and Adam Adkins. Her Grandchildren whom she adored, Timothy Hunter Crabtree, Jacob Wray, Jordan Wray, and Luke Lewis. Her brother Jamie Donald (Vicki) and Sisters Tawnia Mathis (Tim) and Jessica Donald. She also had many nieces and nephews whom she adored, and a whole host cousins and friends.
Brenda was a radiant light whose love and faith touched the lives of so many. Though she may be gone from this world, her spirit will forever inspire and guide us. We will carry her memory in our hearts, honoring her legacy of love and her unwavering faith each day.
