Linda Kay Harmon Vance, 70, of Kenova, WV. passed away Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Madison Park Healthcare. Graveside service will be conducted 1:00P.M. Sunday, December 7, 2025 at the Newman-Ferguson and Hatten Cemetery on Centerville Road with Brother Jim VanZandt officiating. She was born January 12, 1955 in Huntington a daughter of the late Jerry and Nellie Craft Harmon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dwight Vance; two sisters Viola Welch, Alberta Marshall and three brothers William, Jerry, and James Harmon. She is survived by two sisters Mary McSorley and Irene Freeman and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation and no procession to the cemetery. Deborah Jean May “Debbie”, 71, of Kenova, WV left this earth quietly and peacefully and entered Heaven with her husband and son holding her hand on Friday, November 28, 2025. Other family members were at the bedside. Debbie was a daughter of the late Cullie and Minerva Ratcliff Williamson. She was preceded in death by her son, Brad and brother, Roger Williamson. She is survived by the love of her life of 51 years, John May; son Jason; sisters Geneva (Joe) George of Huntington, Sheri (Steve) Brewer of Crum and brother Larry (Jan) Williamson of Alabama; sister-in-law, Ada Williamson of Crum; Uncle James (Mary) Williamson of Kenova and a slew of nieces, nephews and cousins. Debbie loved spending time with her family, being on the water, reading and working word and jigsaw puzzles. A devoted teacher in Wayne County WV. for many years, she was loved and respected by her students. A memorial gathering for friends and family will begin at 1:00 P.M. Erma Lee Chadwick Christian, 98, widow of Pearl “Buster” Christian, of Prichard, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter in New Albany, Ohio on November 24, 2025. Erma was born in Cyrus, West Virginia on November 15, 1927. She was the daughter of Sam Chadwick and Nellie Damron Chadwick of Cyrus, West Virginia. Erma was a lifelong member of Cyrus Missionary Baptist Church, serving in many capacities, in Cyrus, West Virginia and loved her church family dearly.

Erma married Pearl “Buster” Christian while a senior at Buffalo High School. Upon graduation, she joined her husband in Norfolk, Virginia where he was serving in the United States Navy. Erma returned home while Buster was deployed to Corpus Christi, Texas and she began a long tenure of working and serving in her church and community.

Erma worked many jobs throughout her life including The Sylvania Plant in Huntington, West Virginia. Both Buster and Erma devoted many of their later years to M & M Mailing Company, where they were relied on to provide assistance when needed. While Erma was happy to have served her community in those ways, she was most proud of her accomplishments as a homemaker, seamstress, and floral designer. Erma was highly sought after to create floral arrangements for loved ones at Cyrus Cemetery, where she and Buster were the primary caretakers.

Erma loved God above all else, and her dedication to the Lord transpired into how she treated her family. Family meant everything to Erma and she never hesitated to be there for a family member in need. Not just family, but Erma did not know a stranger and would drop everything to offer assistance to anyone. She will certainly be remembered for her big heart, compassionate soul, and giving nature.

Erma is survived by her sister, Wilma Nell Chadwick Akers, son Charles Samuel (Virgie) Christian, son Pearl Edward (Sue) Christian, daughter Deborah Carol Christian Drake, grandsonMark Edward Christian, grandson Gregory Edward (Tasha) Christian, granddaughter Melissa Dawn (Donovan) Reed, granddaughter Amy Renee (Rich) Branson, great-granddaughter Olivia (Williams) Gabriel, great-grandson Weston Christian, great-granddaughter Kayla Adkins, great-granddaughter Haley Christian, great-grandson Malachi Christian, great-grandson Micah Christian, great-grandson Mason Christian, great-granddaughter Kaitlin (Jarod) Van Winkle, great-grandson Donovan Christian Reed, great-granddaughter Alyson Kelley Reed, great-great granddaughter Grace Gabriel, great-great-granddaughter Bonnie Gabriel, great-great-grandson James Adkins, great-great-grandson, Jaxon Adkins, great-great-grandson Grayson Christian, great-great-granddaughter Sloane McNally, great-great-granddaughter Alexandra James Van Winkle, great-great-granddaughter Liliana Roy Van Winkle.

Services will be held at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, West Virginia. Visitation will be Saturday, November 29, 2025 from 12:00pm-2:00pm with the funeral service beginning at 2:00pm. Ronald Lee “Ron” Hampton, 80, of South Point, OH passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025 at the St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted 6:00 P.M., November 24, 2025 at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Watters officiating. Interment will be in Cyrus Cemetery. He was born October 9, 1945 a son of the late Gartha and Charlene Akers Hampton. He was a former driver for UPS and restaurant owner. He was a member of Christ Temple. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Paula M. Hampton. He is survived by his wife Roxanne Nixon Hampton; two daughters Jamie Hampton Mathews (John) and April Hampton Haun (Heath); three grandchildren Brittany McClellan, Ashlee Mathews and Piper Haun; five great-grandchildren Mackenzie and Kyler McClellan; Noelle and Jaxon Legrand and Bo Starn. Bonus children Doug and John Adkins and Deena Spurlock; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother Don Hampton and one sister Virginia Jeffers. Visitation will be from 4-6 P.M. Charles Michael Dodrill (Mike),45, of Huntington, WV. passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at UK Hospital in Lexington. Mike was a paramedic and worked for many agencies over the years such as Lifeline, Kenova EMS, Ceredo EMS, Air Evac and Healthnet. He retired from Cabell County EMS where he spent 22 years of his career. He was a longtime employee of Huntington Medcom where he remained “the voice on the radio” until his passing. Mike was also an Eagle Scout. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Merlin and Ruth Pitts; paternal grandparents Charles F. and Mary Jane Dodrill and his uncle Michael John Pitts. Mike is survived by his wife Shelby Ward Dodrill; his two children Morghan Dodrill and Charles Matthew Dodrill; his parents Charles Robert (Bob) and Wendysue Pitts Dodrill and a host of family and close friends he considered his family. Kenneth Glenn “Kenny” Burner, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and man of God, went to his heavenly home Saturday, November 15, 2025. Kenny was born November 19, 1950 in Elkins, W.Va. a son of the late Glenn W. and Aileen Painter Burner. He spent his early childhood growing up in Philippi, W.Va. until his family moved to Huntington, W.Va. where Kenny graduated from Vinson High School. He was a proud son of Marshall and graduated from Marshall University with a Journalism Degree. For 25 years Kenny proudly served as a W.Va. State Trooper and upon his retirement he went to work for the next 20 years for the US Government as the Deputy Director of HIDTA. Kenny was a member of the American Association of State Troopers, the W.Va. Troopers Association and was a member of O’Brien Masonic Lodge AM &FM No. 101, Williamson, W.Va. Kenny loved his God and was a member of the Spring Valley Presbyterian Church. He was a devoted family man who loved his wife and children and he and Dixie would have celebrated his 75th birthday and 43 years of marriage on November 19th. Kenny loved to workout and keep fit and part of this passion he shared with the girls soccer team of Spring Valley High School as their conditioning coach and later their head coach. Before each game he would tape a bible verse on their wrist to motivate and teach them about God’s love. Kenny leaves behind to carry on his memory his wife, Dixie Mounts Burner; his sons, Greg (Neera) Burner, Kyle (Kaitlyn) Burner, Brad (Sabrina) Burner and Chris (Eli) Burner; his daughters, Lindsey (Derek) Jordan and Beth Ann (Tom) McGraw; his grandchildren, Laila, Lane, Rylynn, Elaine, Logan, Loren and Lakyn; two sisters, Suzi Brenner and Fred and Carla and Dave Jefferson; and his constant companion, Ziggy. Kenny will be missed by all who knew and loved him, he was a great friend, a valued co-worker and a devoted family man. Visitation will be conducted on Friday, November 21st from 5 to 8 p.m. and a funeral service on Saturday, November 22, 2025 beginning at 2:00 p.m. all at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church with Beverly Sharp officiating. Phyllis Gail York,84, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Friday, November 7, 2025 in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Phyllis was born December 28, 1940 in Huntington, WV. a daughter of the late Irvin E. and Lora Porter Ashworth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Teddy Gene York and brother Dallas Ashworth. Survivors include two sons Gerald Carter and Rick Carter (Anna Jenkins) and three grandchildren Leslie, Anisa and Tim. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Bertha Justice Fluty, 90, of Chillicothe, Ohio formerly of Huntington, W.Va. passed away October 30, 2025. Bertha was born December 23, 1934 in Wayne County, W.Va. a daughter of the late Pete and Rosie Calhoun Justice. She married Richie Fluty, Sr. and was a ministers wife for over 55 years and was a member of  Spring Valley Freewill Baptist Church before she moved to Chillicothe. Bertha worked in housekeeping for the Berger Hospital. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Bertha was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Sue Moore; a son, Richie Fluty, Jr.; three grandchildren, five sisters and five brothers. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Deloris Gaye and James Michael with whom she made her home, Brenda Kaye and David Hardin and Linda Faye and Steve Marple; two sisters, Ruby Jean Spaulding and Joyce Ann Gibson; a brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Donnie and Kallie Justice; grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Bertha loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them and she loved the Lord. Visitation will be held from 11:00 to 12:30 Friday, November 7, 2025 with funeral services immediately following at 12:30 all at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, W.Va. Vivian Hope Goedel, 90, of Ceredo, passed away November 1, 2025 at home. She was born July 2, 1935 in Wells, MN to the late Melvin and Lyla (Chaffee) Babcock. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Goedel, her sister, Donna Patton, and several special friends.  Together, Vivian and Marvin shared 27 years of marriage until Marvin’s death in 1982. She leaves behind two sons, Thomas Wayne Goedel of Minneapolis, MN and Michael Scott (Portland) Goedel of Kenova, WV, three granddaughters, Ashley (Zach) Crow of Huntington, WV,  Shayne (Evan) Sullivan of Kenova, WV and Dakota (Jerod) Guilkey of Fort Thomas, KY, and six great-grandchildren whom she adored. She had one brother, Bob (Carolyn) Babcock of Saint Paul, MN and several nieces and nephews. Her life was blessed with many great friends. 

Vivian retired from Kmart in Eau Claire, WI in 1997 and moved to Ceredo, WV to be with her granddaughters. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Ceredo. She joined the Auxillary at Cabell Huntington Hospital where she spent 23 years volunteering in the gift shop. She loved to travel. Whether it be across the country or internationally, she had many good times on these excursions. She was fortunate to visit places like Germany, China and Australia, among others. Vivian was known for her baking and never let you leave her house without cookies or muffins. “Grandma cookies” were the best. She always kept up with “the hollywoods” and knew all the gossip. 

Others were always saying what a sweet lady Vivian was and she truly was the sweetest. She was as stubborn as they come and often times more opinionated than she should have been. Her heart was always in the right place and she cared deeply for those she loved. She will be dearly missed. 

Services will be held at a later date in Wadena, MN where her final resting place will be. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Medical Center and Hospice of Huntington for their care in Vivian’s final days.

Don Clayton Perdue,75, of Prichard, W.Va., passed away Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 24, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church 900 Winchester Ave. Ashland, Ky. 41101 with Pastor V. Rev. D. Andrew Canon, KHS officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites, will follow in Spring Valley Memory Gardens in Huntington, WV. Don was born November 12, 1949 in Kenova, WV. a son of the late Wendell Clayton and Mary Beuhler Perdue. Don was born and raised in Kenova and attended both Ceredo-Kenova and Buffalo-Wayne High School. He was a proud son of Marshall University and completed his pharmacy degree at Ohio Northern in Ada, Ohio. While in college, he met, fell in love with and married Mary Jo Dudek, his “MoJo.” Throughout his life he was a loving father to Erin and Sean, husband to Mary Jo, and Poppy to Dempsey, Brighton, and Rowan. Don was also a forever advocate for those without a voice in the Appalachian communities of Wayne County as a pharmacist and Democratic representative for the WV House of Delegates from 1999 to 2016. A majority of his legislative commitment consisted of serving as the Chair of the Health and Human Resources Committee, spending countless hours fighting for legislation that would help families recover from the devastating opioid epidemic that ravaged our state, obtain affordable healthcare services, and seek ways to build a healthier future for the children if West Virginia. His passion was always to bring awareness of the beautiful and valued people of our region and state and make sure they could feel safe, healthy, and heard when others so often left them behind. After his retirement as a pharmacist and state legislator, he served as the Executive Director of the Wayne County Economic Development Authority. Some of the projects he was able to help initiate included the Healing Place in Huntington, WV, the Heartland Intermodal Gateway in Prichard, WV, and converting the old Corbin Building in Westmoreland, WV, to the West Edge Factory. In addition to his professional and public service, Don consistently devoted his time to numerous local and state organizations, including Stepping Stones, Inc., Sunflower Seeds Tri-State Aid for Ukraine, Recovery Point West Virginia, Rural Health Development, and The Rural Lifestyle Alliance (RLA). In his final days he shared this message, his epilogue, with his family: It doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from or what you do, you were a part of my life and for that I’m eternally grateful. Every human interaction leaves something behind to help make you who you are. So be thankful for all of them.  In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by two brothers Lawrence “Sonny” Perdue and Bobby Jack Perdue. Survivors include his beloved wife, Mary Jo Perdue; daughter and son-in-law Erin Morgenstern (Justin), son and daughter-in-law Sean Perdue (Lindsay); three grandchildren Dempsey Perdue, Brighton Perdue and Rowan Morgenstern; two sisters and one brother-in-law Linda Hall, Patricia “Patti” Kunde (Gerald) and a sister-in-law Mary Perdue and numerous family members and friends.
