John M. Ferguson

John M. Ferguson, 90, husband of Joyce Conley Ferguson, of Kenova, WV passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at his home. He was born July 7, 1934 in Kenova a son of the late John S. and Nora Langley Ferguson. He was a graduate of Buffalo High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post 93 Kenova whose Honor Guard will conduct graveside rites. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Kenova, of which he was a member, with Pastor Scott Byard officiating. Burial will follow in Docks Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours before the service. In 1959 John married the love of his life and they have been married for 65 years walking side by side facing both the heartaches and joys of life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, John Gregory Ferguson; and a brother, Larry Ferguson. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; a son, James “Jim” and Nancy Ferguson; his granddaughter, Avery Ferguson; a devoted niece, Sonja (Don) Money; a special cousin, Morgan (Kelly) Ferguson; and many other family members. The family also wishes to thank John’s caregiver Missy for her care of John and they want to express heartfelt thanks to cousin Aldon Ferguson who visited John every Friday morning to talk, solve the worlds problems and watch old tv shows. His visits meant a lot to John. John loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. For many years he was also a member of the Wayne County Cattleman’s Association. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Greg Ferguson Memorial Scholarship Fund at Marshall University Foundation, 519 Marshall Drive, Huntington, W.Va. 25703.
