Lory B. Hatten, 93, of Kenova, W.Va. loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and child of God, passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 11, 2021 at his home. Lory B. was born April 21, 1928 a son of the late Harry Lee and Tilda Osburn Hatten. He graduated from Buffalo High School and served his country in the US Army. He worked as a pipe fitter for Houdaille Industries, at the Corp. of Engineers at Beech Fork Lake, and drove a bus for the Wayne County Board of Education. He loved the Lord and was a lifetime member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He was also a member of Kenova Masonic Lodge #110 AF & AM whose members will conduct graveside rites. Lory B. was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending Spring Valley and Marshall football games, but the Cincinnati Reds were his number one team. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Jayne Hayes Hatten; an infant son, Samuel Hatten; one granddaughter, Carly Ensley; a sister, Roma Gail Billups; and brothers, William Henry Hatten and Jimmy Lee Hatten. Is survived by three daughters and their families, Cindy Ensley and her daughter, Maggie Ensley (Brandon) Williams and their children, Ethan, Cameron and Addison Williams; daughter, Tammy Meadows (David) Thompson and their sons, Dustin Meadows and Kyle (Courtney) Thompson; and daughter, Christy Adkins (Gary) Sessions and daughters, Eden Sessions and Ambria Adkins (Travis) Britton and their children, Ruby and River Britton. He is also survived by his two sisters, Joann Hunt and Floetta (Darrell) Hall, one brother Harry Gene Hatten and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Tammy and Christy would like to express a special thanks to the wonderful caregivers who took such good care of their dad. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. Visitation will be two hours before the service on Saturday. LeMaster, Alice F
ALICE FAY ADAMS LEMASTER, 79, of Huntington, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 9, 2021, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Alice was born on June 28, 1942, in Otway, Ohio, to the late Leroy and Clara Hoffer Adams. She was a graduate of Otway High School and graduated from Beauty School in Portsmouth, Ohio. Along with her parents, she was also proceeded in death by the love of her life, Billy Allen LeMaster, on July 9, 2016; a sister, Annabelle Adams Austin; and brothers, Tim Adams and Larry Joe Adams. Left behind to cherish her memory are three children, Gina Greene, Billy Allen (Lisa) LeMaster II, and Nikki (Charley) Wood; six grandchildren: Joshua (Victoria) Greene, Ciara LeMaster (Matt Myles), Nicholas (Jessica) Greene, Katie (David) Wendell, Christopher (Haley) LeMaster, Jacob Wood; eight great-grandchildren: Dakota Greene, Mila Myles, Eliona LeMaster, Makzim Wilson, Easton LeMaster, Emmett LeMaster, Joshua David Greene II, and Abby Wendell; brothers, Kenny Adams and Tom Adams; sisters, Sally Adams Cunningham and Sherry Adams Mehaffey; as well as many nieces and nephews. Alice also leaves behind her dogs that she loved dearly, Bella, Coco and Lilly. Alice was a charter member of Spring Valley Freedom Baptist Church, a homemaker, and a deeply devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her love for Christ was demonstrated in the love she had and daily showed for her family, children, and grandchildren. She was the kindest and sweetest woman and a wonderful role model; her example will live on in all who knew and loved her. Visitation services will be held at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, on Wednesday, October 13, from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. with a Celebration of Life immediately following at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Spring Valley Memorial Gardens.
Adkins, Lois A
Lois Ann Adkins was born September 24, 1947 and passed into the arms of her Savior Jesus on October 2, 2021. She was a caring wife, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl White and Thelma White, as well as one sister, Betty Lester. She is survived by her loving husband, of 44 years, Chauncey “Red” Adkins. Additionally she is survived by her two children, Rick (Tammy) Adkins of Huntington, WV and Mike (Penny) Adkins of Kenova, WV; four grandchildren, Jeremy Adkins of Huntington, Brittany (Timmy) Arthur of Chesapeake, OH, Corey (Brittany) Adkins of Huntington and Tyler (Chloe) Adkins of Huntington. She is also survived by an honorary daughter, Jenny (Pac) Smith of Kenova and honorary grandchildren, Dustin (Jamie) Smith of Huntington, Coty (Beth) Smith of Catlettsburg, KY and Jacob Smith of Huntington, and a total of 17 great grandchildren. Lois loved spending time in the kitchen, creating meals for her family. She was a skilled seamstress and used her talents to help out many people. She worked at Fannin Chevrolet and later at JC Wells and Sons who she considered family. Lois was a Sunday school teacher, and faithfully served many years at The Family of God Church in Morehead, KY. Most weekends you could find her cooking for church family or being involved in a church activity. After they moved to Huntington, they attended Locust Grove Baptist Church and later at ReClaim Church. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, October 4, 2021 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at ReClaim Church with Pastor Corey Adkins officiating and Pastor Joe Planck and Pastor Tim Arthur assisting. Marsha Sue Riggs, 76, of Kenova, W.Va. was united with her Savior Sunday, September 26, 2021. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Byard and Pastor Matthew Christian officiating. Interment will follow in Dock’s Creek Cemetery. Marsha was born December 9, 1944, in Kenova, W.Va. a daughter of the late Andrew Wayne and Reba Ball Riggs. She was a graduate of C-K High School and was retired from the Tri-State Airport. Marsha was a member of 20th Street Baptist Church of Kenova where she was a faithful choir member. She loved spending time with family, hosting holiday gatherings, and was a long-time volunteer for the good Samaritan Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved sisters Wilda Milam and Elaine Craycraft; a brother-in-law Dale Craycraft and a great-niece Sarah Armstrong. Wilma Jean Carver Plymale, 88, of Lexington, KY, passed away September 19, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. Jean was born August 3, 1933 to the late Jack and Beulah Ball Carver of Ceredo, W.Va. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ricky A. Plymale; granddaughter, Katherine A. Plymale; sister, Julia Ann Mannon and brother, Billy Jack Carver. She was a graduate of Ceredo Kenova High School then she briefly attended Marshall University. Jean was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Ceredo. She did volunteer work at Cardinal Hill Hospital and was a former member of Daughters of The Nile. Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Richard A. Plymale; daughter, Lisa J. (John) Jennings; granddaughter, Sarah E. (Matthew) Pank; grandson, Grant A. (Lauren) Leedy; great grandsons, Carver M. Pank, Cooper A. Pank and Kalen Finley; great granddaughter, Kamryn Finley along with a host of nieces and nephews. Jean will be greatly missed by those who loved her. Delbert Akers, Junior, 90, of Prichard, W.Va. passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Byard officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery with the American Legion Post 93 Honor Guard conducting military rites. He was born October 15, 1930 in Ceredo, W.Va. son of the late Delbert Akers, Sr. and the late Ida Pratt Akers. He was a former Clerk with the CSX Railroad. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 93 and the Prichard Volunteer Fire Department. Junior enjoyed working on cars and was a big NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed playing Bingo. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death his wife Rita Akers and two sisters Barbara Sloan and Evelyn Jeffers. Survivors include his fiancé’ Patty Ann Hutchinson; daughter Teresa Ward; son Terry Lee Aker; grandchildren Tonya, Mark, Josh and Robert; great-grandchildren Ashleigh, Logan, Hannah, Alexis and Anthony; great-great grandchildren Kynleigh and Addison. BRIAN KEITH MEREDITH, 54, of Kenova, W.Va. passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021, in CabellHuntington Hospital. He was a 1985 graduate of C-K High School. He loved his family and spending time with them and had a penchant to be able to fix anything. Brian was kind and would do anything to help anyone and will be deeply missed by family and friends. Jack L. Ellis, 86, of Huntington, W.Va. passed away peacefully, Sunday, September 12, 2021, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House with his loving family at his side. Interment with military graveside rites by the American Legion Post 93 will be conducted following the service at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Jack was born September 6, 1935 in Huntington, W.Va. son of the late Raymond Ellis and late Katherine Runyan. He was retired from the IBEW Local 317 in Huntington as an electrician. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ceredo and the American Legion Post 93. Jack served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict and was active in the Marine Corp League in Huntington. He coached Little League baseball at League One and was very active with the Vinson High School Athletic Boosters. Jack celebrated at one time as the YMCA Marble Champion. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Raymond “Pete” Ellis. Survivors include his wife of 28 years Joyce Ellis; two sons Barry Ellis (Jackie) and Jason Ellis and daughter Bridgette Moore (Larry); stepson Billy Barrett (Tina); grandson Jeremy Ellis (Robin); granddaughters Aimee Harrah (Todd), Autumn Ellis, Olivia Barrett and Leigha Barrett. He was a member of the Route 60 Freewill Baptist Church and was a former Deacon at Charity Freewill Baptist Church and Beulah Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Robert Rickman, maternal grandparents George and Elizabeth Hale and paternal grandparents Thomas and Lois Rickman.
