Dear Hampton family:
I was sorry to learn of Ron’s passing. My sincere sympathies and may God comfort you at this difficult time.
I am facilitator for our West Park Baptist Church Ministry in Knoxville, Tennessee.
We were blessed to have Ron be a participant in our 13 week classes and he attended multiple 13 week classes.
Our other participants fell in love with Ron and he with them.
We were honored each time he came in the room.
He and I and some of the other guys became friends and regularly went out to breakfast – brunch while Ron remained in Knoxville. He loved the Cracker Barrel. We loved to hear his stories and medical experiences.
After he went back to West Virginia we continued to stay in touch.
He was a great person – I was blessed to call him friend and will truly miss him.
Now he is in Heaven in the presence of Jesus and has no more of the troubles we have on this earth.
I will miss seeing Ron in our neighborhood. He was a bright light on a dark day, bringing goodwill and caring to anyone he met. In my ongoing cancer battle, Ron asked how I was feeling and wanted to know if I needed anything. And without fail, he would tell me he was praying for me. I always felt better after talking with him. Prayers for Roxanne and his family. ‘Ron, you will be missed greatly. Rest easy, my friend.’
To the family of Ron. I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting all of you but I did know Ron and enjoyed his company anytime we were together. We met in a Grief Share program in Knoxville and continued that friendship with breakfast with other members of that class at Cracker Barrel on numerous occasions. Talking with Ron was an experience that I truly enjoyed. He spoke of his daughters and meeting Roxanne again after many years. He loved his family and loved sharing things about them. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing but after many years of pain both emotionally and physical he is at rest. Loved that man
