Erma Lee Chadwick Christian

Erma Lee Chadwick Christian, 98, widow of Pearl “Buster” Christian, of Prichard, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter in New Albany, Ohio on November 24, 2025. Erma was born in Cyrus, West Virginia on November 15, 1927. She was the daughter of Sam Chadwick and Nellie Damron Chadwick of Cyrus, West Virginia. Erma was a lifelong member of Cyrus Missionary Baptist Church, serving in many capacities, in Cyrus, West Virginia and loved her church family dearly.

Erma married Pearl “Buster” Christian while a senior at Buffalo High School. Upon graduation, she joined her husband in Norfolk, Virginia where he was serving in the United States Navy. Erma returned home while Buster was deployed to Corpus Christi, Texas and she began a long tenure of working and serving in her church and community.

Erma worked many jobs throughout her life including The Sylvania Plant in Huntington, West Virginia. Both Buster and Erma devoted many of their later years to M & M Mailing Company, where they were relied on to provide assistance when needed. While Erma was happy to have served her community in those ways, she was most proud of her accomplishments as a homemaker, seamstress, and floral designer. Erma was highly sought after to create floral arrangements for loved ones at Cyrus Cemetery, where she and Buster were the primary caretakers.

Erma loved God above all else, and her dedication to the Lord transpired into how she treated her family. Family meant everything to Erma and she never hesitated to be there for a family member in need. Not just family, but Erma did not know a stranger and would drop everything to offer assistance to anyone. She will certainly be remembered for her big heart, compassionate soul, and giving nature.

Erma is survived by her sister, Wilma Nell Chadwick Akers, son Charles Samuel (Virgie) Christian, son Pearl Edward (Sue) Christian, daughter Deborah Carol Christian Drake, grandsonMark Edward Christian, grandson Gregory Edward (Tasha) Christian, granddaughter Melissa Dawn (Donovan) Reed, granddaughter Amy Renee (Rich) Branson, great-granddaughter Olivia (Williams) Gabriel, great-grandson Weston Christian, great-granddaughter Kayla Adkins, great-granddaughter Haley Christian, great-grandson Malachi Christian, great-grandson Micah Christian, great-grandson Mason Christian, great-granddaughter Kaitlin (Jarod) Van Winkle, great-grandson Donovan Christian Reed, great-granddaughter Alyson Kelley Reed, great-great granddaughter Grace Gabriel, great-great-granddaughter Bonnie Gabriel, great-great-grandson James Adkins, great-great-grandson, Jaxon Adkins, great-great-grandson Grayson Christian, great-great-granddaughter Sloane McNally, great-great-granddaughter Alexandra James Van Winkle, great-great-granddaughter Liliana Roy Van Winkle.

Services will be held at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, West Virginia. Visitation will be Saturday, November 29, 2025 from 12:00pm-2:00pm with the funeral service beginning at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Cyrus Cemetery in Prichard, West Virginia. Donations may be made to the Cyrus Baptist Church in Erma’s memory. Online condolences may be expressed at rollinsfh.com.
