Richard Dyrl “Dick” Vass, 88, of Huntington, WV. passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral service will be conducted 2:30 P.M. Monday, September 24, 2018 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova with Pastor Scott Byard officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Valley Memory Gardens. Dick was born July 17, 1930 to the late Henry Aldrick and Lafavor Belle Bean Vass. He retired as Marshall University Bursar after 32 years of service. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Loudon United Methodist Church in Loudon, TN. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers George Malcolm Vass and Teddy Joe Vass and a sister Jacqueline Vass Byard. Survivors include his beloved wife Thelma Lucas Vass; two sons Keith Malcolm Vass (Debbie) and Kevin Joe Vass (Jami); one daughter Teresa Ann Boehle (Rick); two grandchildren Christopher Boehle (Amanda) and Katy Deliou (Pierre); five great-grandchildren and long time friend Lonnie Carpenter. So sorry for Thelma and their children in the loss of their husband and father. We’re glad we did get to spend precious time with our long time friends when we visited in December.
