Robert “Bob” Franklin Anderson, 95, of Ceredo, WV passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Graveside service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday March 18, 2024 at Roselawn Cemetery 450 Courthouse Road Princeton, WV. 24740. Bob was born November 22, 1928 in Fries, VA. a son of the late Eugene Franklin and Gussie Ellen Spence Anderson. Bob was a 1946 graduate of Welch High School and attended Bowling Green Business College, Ky and Marshall University. He was a 41year employee with Ashland Oil in the research and development department. He was a veteran having served as a SSGT in the USMC during WW II and Korea as a navigator. Bob was an active member of the community and loved camping, swimming, photography and spending time with his family. He was an avid animal lover and loved watching all Marshall University sports, “GO HERD”. He will be deeply loved and missed by all. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Frank Anderson. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 73 years Evelyn Anderson; children Roberta Anderson Miller (Dave) and John Anderson (Barbara); daughter-in-law Pam Anderson; 9 grandchildren; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Michael Wayne Sexton
Michael Wayne Sexton, 57, of Chesapeake, Ohio passed away Monday, March 11, 2024 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Kimberly Jean Mannon
Kimberly Jean Mannon, 64, of Kenova, W.Va. passed away March 5, 2024 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. Kim was born July 15, 1959 in Huntington a daughter of the late Paul and Julia Carver Mannon. She grew up in Ceredo, W.Va. and graduated from C-K High School in 1977. Kim then continued on to earn her BSN from Mountain State University and Master of Science Nursing from Walden University. Kim was also inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International, Honor Society of Nursing, Nu Alpha Chapter Marshall University. She was honored with a Certificate of Excellence by King’s Daughter Medical Center Critical Care/Emergency Care Units in recognition of her dedication, passion, and exemplary nursing skills provided to patients and their families. She was currently the Assistant Chief Executive Officer at Mildred Mitchell Bateman Hospital. Kim was passionate about her family and spending time together, sharing a meal and making memories. She also loved her work and the people with whom she worked. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Rhonda Mannon; two special nieces, Jaclyn Mannon and her sons, Evan and Cashtyn and Jordan and Travis Nash and their children, Liam, Charlotte, and Elizabeth; special cousins, Misty Davies, Brieanne Davies and Lisa Jennings; one uncle, Richard Plymale and a host of other nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. Mark Andrew Chaffins
MARK ANDREW CHAFFINS, 50, of Kenova, West Virginia, husband of Angela S. Chaffins, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Cabell-Huntington Hospital. He was born in Huntington, West Virginia on September 16, 1973, a son of Jerry E. Chaffins and the late Wanda L. Chaffins of Kenova, West Virginia. Mark was also preceded in death by a brother, John David Chaffins. He is survived by his wife of nearly 28 years, Angela S. Chaffins; two children, Shaun M. Chaffins (fiancé, Corina) and Miranda A. Lively; father, Jerry E. Chaffins of Kenova, WV; a brother and sister-in-law, Jeffrey E. and Rebecca S. Chaffins of Ceredo, WV; mother-in-law Renee Jackson (David, deceased) of Springfield, OH; sisters-in-law Lizabeth Jackson and Charity Martinez, both of Indianapolis, IN.; nieces and nephews, Kristen (Jason) Camp of Prince Frederick, MD, Abigail Chaffins of Kenova, WV, Charley and Benny Fark of Indianapolis, IN, ZidenCunningham and Scarlett Martinez of Indianapolis, IN; great niece Hannah Camp of Prince Frederick, MD; and many, many close and dear friends. Mark is also survived by his beloved fur babies, Marley Jane, Lucy, Sadie, Daisy, Zoe, and Chester. Mark graduated from Ceredo-Kenova High School in 1991; Marshall University with a B.S. Degree in Safety Technology in 1995; and from Marshall University with an M.S. Degree in Safety Techology in 1996. He was employed by Ershigs, Inc., as Director of Health and Safety from 2003 to 2016, until he retired due to health concerns. Mark joined the Kenova Volunteer Fire Department in 1994, and has faithfully served the Kenova community ever since. He accomplished many levels of training and earned innumerable accomplishments as he has saved lives and continuously and faithfully served his community. Mark experienced great satisfaction in volunteering for the fire department, particularly in working with children, and his great love for being a member of the brotherhood of firefighters and emergency responders. Mark took great relish in participating in the “coffee crew” at the fire house every morning with special friends, Eddie Marcum, Tim Bias, and Trent Damron, while solving all the world’s problems every day. Mark was a member of the Kenova United Methodist Church, where he accepted the Lord’s gift of grace at an early age. He loved spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and perpetuating his firearms interests. Mark was also very proud of his do-it-yourself projects around his house. Many neighbors often mention that he was always outside working on something, while never failing to give out a shout or a friendly wave to passersby. Mark was truly respected by his neighbors and community and will be sorely missed. Visitation will be at Kenova United Methodist Church on Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, with funeral services immediately after. The Rev. Andrew Tennant will be officiating. Harold Kenneth “Kenny” Pancake, 75, of Ironton, Ohio passed away February 20, 2024 at King’s Daughters Medical Center. He was born August 6, 1948 in Ironton a son of the late Harold Austin and Hessie Stewart Pancake. Kenny was a truck driver for 25 years with Ashland/Marathon and retired in 2009. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army, member of the American Legion Post 806 and a member of South Hill Long Beard of Lawrence County Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters Beverly Pancake and Brenda Ross. He is survived by three children Jody Jones (Joe), Howard Donald Pancake (Becky) and Kendora Pancake; grandchildren Haley Jones (Ryley), Isabelle Pancake, Colt Pancake, Joey Jones, Zander Pancake, Jacob Jones, Austin Mcfann, Jaxson Jones; great-grandchild Wrenley Jones; two sisters Barbara Stevens (Curt) and Dianna Stevens; two brothers Mike Pancake (Christy) and Jerry Pancake (Cheryl) and numerous nieces and nephews. Linda Frances Gibson Butcher
Linda Frances Gibson Butcher, Kenova native, passed away peacefully in her home on February 3, 2024 at the age of 78. She was preceded in death by her parents Etna and Violet Gibson. She is survived by her fiance’ Jess Groves; sons Richie (Amy) Butcher and Larry (Randi) Butcher; granddaughters Allie (Nick) Elkins, Mandi Butcher, Emily Butcher and Erika Butcher and her great-grandchildren Barrett and Berkley Elkins. Linda devoted her life to her family. She never missed a game, event, or activity. She was truly the definition of selfless. Her beautiful smile and contagious laughter will be remembered forever. She loved all things sparkly, Harry Potter (a true Gryffindor at heart), Elvis Presley, and football especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Marshall. Above all, she loved her family. Charles Clinton Ferman, 86, of Huntington, was welcomed into the arms of his savior, as his faith became sight on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Interment will follow in Cyrus Cemetery. Charles was born May 5, 1937 in Prichard, WV. a son of the late Wallace Ferman and the late Fern Murphy. Charles was an environmental specialist with Columbia Gas for forty-three years. His passion was golfing and serving the Lord in any capacity. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by step-father John Murphy; son Jimmy Ferman; daughter Jennifer Viohl and brother-in-law OB Stallard.
