James Earl “Buck” Leist

James Earl “Buck” Leist, 71, of Kenova, WV. passed away Monday, August 29, 2022 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Buck was born October 31, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan a son of the late Earl Leist and the late Betty Lou Perry Wellman. He was a member of the Buena Vista Lodge #60 and the Scottish Rite Lodge of Huntington. Buck was a retired Foreman from the Ohio River Terminal. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson Alan Leist. He is survived by his step-father Charles Wellman; beloved wife Carol Jean Leist; three sons Michael Leist
(Jennifer), Jamie Leist and Andrew Leist (Tina Stewart) and nine grandchildren Stefan, Harleigh, Sarah, Kayla, Jacob, Brayden, Seth, Alexa and Zoe. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Saturday,
September 3, 2022 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. Entombment will
be 1:00 P.M. Sunday, September 4, 2022 with the Masonic Lodge and the
American Legion Post 93 conducting graveside rites at White Chapel

Charles E. Akers

Charles E. Akers of Huntington, WV passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022. Charles was born December 8, 1942, a son of the late Delbert and Ida Pratt Akers.

Charles retired from Marathon Petroleum. He was a member of Ceredo United Methodist Church. His family was very important to him especially his beloved wife, his much-loved son and daughter and the lights of his life his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary Viers, a brother, Delbert Jr. and two sisters, Evelyn and Barb.

Charles is survived by his wife, Yvonne Byard Akers; daughter, Kimberly Dawn (Troy) Blankenship; son, Charles E. “Chuck” (Melanie) Akers II; grandsons, Justin (Keisha) Viers, Daniel (Elizabeth) Viers, and Tanner Akers; granddaughter, Anna Akers; two great-grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter; a brother, Tee Akers; sisters, Betty Staal and Linda Fouch. Charles has left behind many good friends and all of his telephone buddies. Visitation will be from 11 to 1 Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Rollins Funeral Home In Kenova. Berl Bruce Pack

Berl Bruce Pack, 85, of Ceredo, WV. passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova with Pastor Mark Roach officiating. Bruce was born April 25, 1937 in Wayne a son of the late Frank and Erie Smith Pack. He was a member of the Dock’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver from Marathon Petroleum. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his precious daughter Pamela Renee Pack Osborne; two brothers Merrill Pack and William Pack and a sister Delores Robertson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Judy Akers Pack; a son and daughter-in-law Ronald Pack (Cathy); siblings Loretta Wallace, Lola Mae Finnell, Peggy Wallace, Brenda Pack Maynard, Janice Riley, Bonnie Sue Brown, Marvin Pack, Douglas Pack, Richard Pack and Vera Stiltner. He is also survived by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Roger Akers (Linda); son-in-law Kevin Osborne and two grandchildren Nicholas Allen Osborne and Rebecca Arlene Osborne. Barbara Ann Shingleton Riddle

Barbara Ann Shingleton Riddle, of Huntington, W.Va. passed away Friday, April 8, 2022. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church of which she was a member. Interment will follow in Dock’s Creek Cemetery. Barbara was born January 16, 1934 in Ashland, Ky. a daughter of the late Donald and Jennie Shingleton. She was a 1952 graduate of Ashland High School and worked for the Ashland Telephone Company for five years. She married Lawrence D. Riddle in 1956. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Jimmy Shingleton and three sisters and a brother-in-law Shirley Clark, Mary Lyons and Donna Tackett (Fred). She leaves her beloved husband Lawrence D. Riddle; two children Gregory Riddle (Leeann), Holly Kelley (James); one grandson Blaine Kelley and a brother-in-law Jerry Clark. She also leaves many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to a church or charity of your choice. Kimber, Noah

Noah Kimbler, 86, of Huntington, W.Va. passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 at Huntington Health Rehabilitation Center. He was born March 10, 1935 a son of the late David and Mary Ann Carver Kimbler. Noah retired from ACF Industries. He married Mary E. Fernandez who preceded him in death in 2008 and he was also preceded by a granddaughter, LaTisha Rae Kimbler. He was a member of the First Independent Missionary Baptist Church and had been attending Locust Grove Baptist Church. Noah is survived by a son, David J. (Beverly) Kimbler; a daughter, LaLisa (Don) Vickers; a brother, Scott Kimbler; two sisters, Thelma Frasher and Dorothy Hale; two grandchildren, Jennifer Hobbs, Cheynoa (Casey) Brooks; five great grandchildren, David Tyler Hobbs, Addyson Hobbs, Caden Wheeler, Leah Wheeler and Tucker Brooks. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday January 5, 2022 at the Abbey of Serenity at Docks Creek Cemetery with Rev. Randle Robertson officiating. Sheila Shannon, 70, of Barboursville, WV. passed away Monday, December 6, 2021 at the Concord Health & Rehabilitation Center in Wheelersburg, OH. She was born February 27, 1951 in Huntington, W.Va. a daughter of the late Edgar Scott and Opal Florence Atkinson Boyer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers Eddie and David Boyer and one sister Sandy Peppers. Survivors include her beloved husband James R. Shannon; two sons and a daughter-in-law Jim Shannon and Chris Shannon (Kathy); two sisters Patty Stilwell and Sue McCoy and two grandchildren Colin and Brendan Shannon. Graveside service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 10, 2021 at Maple Hill Cemetery 471 Dock’s Creek Cemetery Road Kenova, W.Va. 25530 with Pastor Matthew Christian officiating. Workman, John R

John Robert Workman, 78 years old went home to be with the Lord at his residence on April 27th 2021. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova with Pastor John McSweeney officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. He was born May 19th 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Milford Workman, a son Jeffrey Dale Workman, a brother Roger Workman, a sister-in-law Dale Workman, and a nephew Ronnie Ray Workman. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Nell Workman, one brother Ronnie Workman, two sisters Ida Milum (Dave) and Sue Ward. A son Mark Workman (Kelley), two daughters Angela Barrett (Steve) and Debrah Tomblin; eight grandchildren Josh Workman (Ginger), Ben Workman, Kris Workman (Meg), Ethan and Caleb LeMaster, Dawn Simpson (Chris), Dakota Simpson (Danielle), Kasey Ward (Logan); seven great-grandchildren and three special nieces Brenda Damron, Chantelle Miller and Addisyn Miller. He was a member of the 20th Street Baptist Church in Kenova where he was an usher and the “candyman”. He was a member of the IBEW #317 local union for 55 years. He was so loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. James “Jamie” Blankenship, 59, of Huntington, W.Va. was ushered into the presence of the King Thursday morning, January 14, 2021. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 18, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Kenova, of which he was a member, with Pastor David Akers officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Jamie was born July 6, 1961 in Huntington a son of the late Orval “Jack” and Arlene Burdette Blankenship. He was a former salesman with Clayton Homes and present owner of Rocky Tops Pizza in Kenova. Jamie was an avid Marshall Fan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Cline and Virgie Blankenship; maternal grandparents J.B. and Bernice Tanner; two brothers Randy Blankenship and Robert “Bobby Jack” Blankenship; two special aunts Peggy Turman and Marlene Crook (Carly) and father-in-law David Akers. Survivors include his beloved wife Jeannette Akers Blankenship; precious daughter April Blankenship (Marshall Young); special cousin, whom he considered more like a sister, Angela Adams (Bruce); three aunts Mary Cussick (Jack), Jennifer Tanner and Sue Russell and two nieces Tracy Arthur and Renee Law (Paul). He is also survived by his mother-in-law Annette Akers; brother and sister-in-law David Akers (Pam); two nieces Cassidy Adkins (T.J.) and Whitney Buck (Ryan); two nephews Dr. Brad Akers (Breanne) and Zachary Akers (Amanda); a host of great nieces and nephews and two special friends Mike Brumfield (Mandy) and Jeff Barrett. Samuel H. Lancaster, II, 39, of Huntington, W.Va. passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021. Graveside service will be conducted 12:30 P.M. Friday, January 15, 2021 at Browning Cemetery with Pastor Gary Graves officiating. He was born January 18, 1981 in Huntington, W.Va. a son of Samuel H. Lancaster, Jr. and the late Vickie Allen Lancaster. He coached basketball in years past. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Samuel H. Lancaster, Sr.. In addition to his father he is survived by two brothers Ryan Lancaster (fiancé Amy Vaness) and Aaron Lancaster (Ashley); niece which he was crazy about Annistyn Lancaster; paternal grandmother Betty Lancaster; maternal grandparents Bob & Rita Allen; special friend Jessica Ball. He was born September 5, 1973 in Pontiac, Michigan a son of the late John P. Fitzgerald and the late Virginia Lee Conn. He was a member of the Laborers Local 1445 and Fraternal Order of Eagles 2329.
